Summary
This audiobook is passionately and evocatively read by the author, Heidi Mavir.
An updated edition of the Sunday Times bestseller.
Your Child Is Not Broken is THE book for parents who need permission to do things differently.
An unapologetic, deeply moving manual for parents of neurodivergent children from Heidi Mavir, a late-identified, neurodivergent adult and parent to an autistic/ADHD teenager.
This updated edition includes information on Pathological Demand Avoidance, Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria, an interview with Heidi's son Theo and more.
Follow Heidi's irreverent and brutally honest story of her fight to be seen, heard and supported, while swimming against a tide of parent blame, ableist stereotypes and the weight of other people’s opinions.
Your Child Is Not Broken is a call to arms for parents and carers of autistic, ADHD, or otherwise neurodivergent children. It is the book that no one has dared to write but every parent needs to read. Heidi’s hilarious anecdotes and heartbreaking storytelling offer validation, comfort, reassurance and wisdom to parents who need it the most.

Should be a must read for anyone who works with children
This book spoke to me, it's a beacon of light for anyone starting to doubt themselves and their parenting ability in relation to their neurodivergent child. Thank you.

Loved It!
Thankyou for writing this book, loved it! At 64 with a grown up family, so many things are relatable. Was recommended it by my daughter, who is working relentlessly and tirelessly on a ehcp for my grandaughter. I have bought a copy of the book to give to my other daughter, who I know will relate to this too, for her children too. As you say "the apple doesn't fall far the tree" :)

What an eye opener!
Great book!
So much truth and all the facts that parents come across and face to face with the reality of living with a neurodivergent child that tries to find their way into a explicitly neurotypical world.
Thank you for sharing and being strong enough to let all of us know that we are not alone and our children are NOT broken. The system of education IS.

Must listen/read for any parent of an Autistic child
Down to earth, no holds barred, tells it how it is but helps parents to feel validated and will help and teach a lot people. Great sense of humour came throughout the book.

More important to read this than you than you thought
This is the most validating account of what I and thousands of others have been through, are currently going through or are on the brink of hence drawn to this book.
With gravity and humour, Heidi is co-creating the necessary and even life saving change to the attitudes towards autism and mental health in the school system.
Covering from child unable to get into school through to the realisation their family is autistic through advocating for her son by learning how to ‘be that mum’. Autistic burnout to radical acceptance.
