About this listen

The gripping follow-up to the number one best seller Little Bones.

Good intentions can be deadly....

A missing girl. A case that's personal. A contract killer on Irish soil. Cat Connolly is back at work. Struggling to adjust to physical and mental scars, her workload once again becomes personal when her best friend, Sarah Jane, goes missing.

Sarah Jane's a journalism student, the daughter of a decorated war correspondent, but what could she be working on that could lead to her disappearance? And how deadly will it get?

In the world of missing persons every second counts, but with the clock ticking, can Cat find Sarah Jane before it's too late?

BRILLIANT

The narrator does a simply excellent job of voicing lots of very different characters. The story started really well and I was gripped until chapter 44 but then it started to feel dragged out to the point where it was grating on me slightly (sorry) but I stuck it out to the very end thankfully. I don't like to be negative; I did enjoy the story and it kept me entertained all day while I worked. I would definitely listen to more by this author.

I really don't understand some of the negative reviews of this one - were they even listening to the same book? If you're a level-headed, mature and open-minded human who likes a good crime detection drama, you will probably enjoy this one. The central character is a strong female detective and there are some equally strong male characters at the forefront.

Well worth a listen

Interesting story that presented a reminder that any crime is stoppable where investigation involves instincts that are followed. Good presentation of modern crime.

Another great story from Sam Blake. Just purchased book 3 and can't wait to start. Aoife has got to be the best narrator ever. Congratulations to all x

Aoife McMahon excellent again.

Sam Blake will give the best of detective novel authors a run for their money! The characters and scenes are so clear it feels as if you're standing there. I've read almost exclusively crime novels for years, and Sam Blake is at the top of her game. Aoife McMahon as narrator is perfect. Her mellow voice and accents are spot on and she changes easily between male and female characters. The author and narrator are a perfect match. Can't wait to get on to her next novel. Audible please keep this author books on your main list for releases.

Fabulous again!

Slow start and definitely draws out some of the elements longer than necessary, but nail biting finish and brilliant second half with some good twists. Blake really brings Cat Connolly to life and Aoife reads it beautifully.

Great book brilliantly read

I was revolted by the machismo and constant military references.
I was particularly offended by Cat’s passion for the violence of kick boxing, wearing combats, and shaven headed soldier types.

Dreadful macho and militaristic nonsense

This is fundamentally a romance novel rather than crime. A great deal of description of their clothes and the heroine's corkscrew curls.

A crime thriller?
