Harry Barnett, a middle-aged failure, leads a shabby existence. He is reduced to caretaking a friend's villa on the island of Rhodes and working in a bar to earn his keep. Then a guest at the villa - a young woman he had instantly warmed to - disappears on a mountain peak. Very well read and performed and a strong story very typical of the author. Harry is an excellent central character.

This is my first Robert Goddard Audible book and I was definitely not disappointed Paul Shelley's narration was superb to the point of brilliance. I've already got the next one queued up. The story line is excellent and enough twists and turns to keep you interested and guessing throughout.

Struggled to get into it at the beginning. Very pleased I persevered as I was intrigued to hear more for most of the book. Highly recommended.

A superbly woven story, beautiful use of language, and a great narrator. I've already bought the next in the series and another two of Robert Goddard's novels and can't wait to start.

Had that in my library for some time but never got round to listening. Really good story, well put together with good characters. Elements far fetched in places but cracking overall

This was purchased in the 2 for 1 sale. Robert Goddard was unknown to me . I thoroughly enjoyed this book . Lots of twists and turns and totally gripping I could not stop listening.The narrator was excellent such a warm and wonderful voice. The book was written in the 80’s so no cell phones or computers and some may find it a little dated but I loved it. A “missing person ”/ “who done it ” up there with the best of them. I will certainly look for more books by this author.
