 The festival that brightens up autumn in Takayama City in Gifu Prefecture is the Takayama Festival, which happens every 9th and 10th of October. 岐阜県の高山市の秋を彩る祭りが、毎年10月9日と10日に行われる高山祭。
高山祭は、毎年春の「山王祭」と、秋の「八幡祭」の総称で、いずれの祭りでも、からくり人形などが乗る屋台が登場します。
高山のある飛驒地方は、奈良時代から、優れた木工の職人を都に派遣していたほどの土地。
彼らは〝飛驒の匠″と呼ばれ、その技術を受け継いで作られた屋台は、どれも豪華絢爛で、高山祭は日本三大美祭の一つといわれています。
このうち秋の八幡祭は、櫻山八幡宮の例祭です。
屋台がずらりと勢揃いする「屋台曳き揃え」や、屋台が町を巡る「屋台曳き廻し」などの行事が秋空の下で行われ、毎年多くの観光客がその美しさに酔いしれます。©2017 KODANSHA English Language Learning
