About this listen
The VC Warriors are an elite group of vampire who protect innocents, whether human or those of their own race. Jared Kincaid, along with other Warriors, are shocked when a fiery red head with a gun and attitude, bring news of young teens being turned into an army of half-breed vampires capable of taking out all VC Warriors. Breaking into the famed VC Warriors compound was definitely not the smartest thing Tessa Pride has ever done, but she will do anything for her brother, Adam. The Warriors held the one person she knew was responsible for her brother being turned into a half-breed and nothing will stop her from getting what she needs to help her brother, not even a Warrior whose eyes could make her melt with one look. Jared and Tessa join forces in a desperate scramble to find who is responsible. With a war between Warriors and half-breeds brewing, suspicions of traitors in their midst put the lives of everyone involved on the line.
©January 5, 2013 Teresa Gabelman (P)2014 Teresa GabelmanThose of you that have read my reviews before, will know that I enjoy a story more if the lead female character is intelligent, resilient and has a good sense of humour - I wasn’t disappointed here. Tessa is everything that I look for in a lead female character; she's smart, witty and has plenty of gumption, she has a strong moral compass and loyalty that makes her fight for her family and those she considers under her care and although she's got a bit of a chip on her shoulder about her figure, hey what women hasn't, it kinda made her feel more real, easier to relate to.
I downloaded the whisper-syn narration and was impressed with Jeffrey Kafer's performance; the pace of his narration was just right, his intonations added depth and I enjoyed his vocal variances for the dialogue.
I loved that this book had me blubbering like a baby, got my blood boiling with rage but also laughing my socks off and while I must confess that I found certain scenes terrifying and shocking, Jared definitely hit all the right spots passion-wise *blush* and warmed my old romantic heart.
So, ummm, was there anything I disliked about it?
Nope, not a thing, hence the 5 stars.
However, I would take this opportunity to remind you that the story arcs relating to the new half-breeds and the vampire blood drug trade continues in various forms throughout this series. Ms Gabelman does weave basic details into her books, so that new readers are not completely lost and although I don’t think that it’s essential to your enjoyment of Jared to have read the previous book, I do feel that you’d miss an awful lot if you haven’t read Damon first.
So, basically what I’m saying is...
I really loved this paranormal romance story! It's got everything that I look for in a great book; action, romance, humour, an engaging plot-line and well written erotic sex scenes. Couldn't stop reading it!
Due to the nature of the storyline, the graphic violence and sexual content (it’s definitely steamy) I’d recommend this book to adults only who are fans of relationship and romance tales with gritty storylines and lots of passion.
I Couldn't Stop Reading/Listening!

What did you like most about Jared?
This is the second story in the series but also be read as a stand alone story it delves into the insecurities of a young woman who Jared claims and in doing so allows Tessa to bloom into a more confident personWho was your favorite character and why?
My favourite character is Jill. She is a shy quiet girl who is forced to deal with the problems, whilst dealing with her own problems she interacts well with the other characters and with some pushing from Tessa she emerges from her quiet she'll to become a strong character.Which scene did you most enjoy?
I enjoyed the fair ground scene the most. The descriptions of all the attractions and booths / stalks gave me a clear picture in my mindWas this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
YesAny additional comments?
I like Jeffrey Kaffer as a narrator some narrators can ruin a good story, but I like the fact that he has the ability to use different voices for different characters. When I first heard him narrating I was a little unsure as he seemed to have a very monotone voice but once the action started I found his descriptions and intimations were perfect for the story. As a result I now have several books narrated by him.A refreshing take on a old genre
