About this listen

Think you know the SAS?

Think again....

From number one best-selling SAS hero Chris Ryan comes Manhunter: the first book in an explosive new series featuring Josh Bowman, a battle-worn Regiment soldier hand-picked to join a shadowy unit within the SAS.

When foreign governments act like gangsters, a new kind of SAS is needed....

In London, assassins carry out a deadly chemical weapons attack at the royal wedding. All the signs point to a Kremlin-sanctioned hit. Their victim: a notorious mobster.

'The Cell' is a shadowy unit within the SAS, dedicated to fighting global organised crime. In a world where the Russian government is the real mob, it's the job of the Cell to defend British interests at home and abroad. Only the elite are selected; only the very best will survive. For SAS Staff Sergeant Josh Bowman, whose young family was brutally murdered by an Albanian crime gang, it's a chance for revenge—and to bury his secret opioid addiction.

But the Russians have only just begun. When the Cell uncovers a sinister plot against a British-backed tyrant in Africa, they are quickly drawn into a deadly race against time. Soon they find themselves fighting a terrifying enemy in a brutal fight to the death.

Outnumbered, outgunned and with no military support, Bowman and his comrades are all that stand between Moscow and ultimate victory....

CD Review

Great story from someone who was there so the details are excellent. I am a fan of Paul Thornley but one point, the GPMG is pronounced "Jimpea" not "Gim-py" please change for the next book, apart from that great effort.

Stilted voicing and average story

Narrator had a stilted way of speaking - think Gordon Ramsey when he's explaining a recipe! Accents were good and different voices for characters cleverly used. Story a bit average

It was ok

In my view this isn't Chris Ryan's best book. Paul Thornley does his best but the story didn't cut it for me !

Good start to a new book series...

Only recently started to listen to Chris Ryan books & then I spotted this brand new book ... excellent news.
Good interesting story with twists, turns & action. I’m definitely looking forward to the next chapter in the Josh Bowman series - so many questions about The Cell too ... but I won’t divulge anything further. Enjoy.
Two nice touches at the end:
Chapter 34 is a snippet about ‘what Chris Ryan learned from the Bravo Two Mission’; his mindset to survive.
Then Chapter 35 gives you a sample chapter from a series of adventures that are more family oriented called ‘Special Forces Cadet’ Series.

Neil TARRANT man hunter loved the book Paul the narrator is a brilliant voice over and more believable.

Paul has a great voice over . Story line is brilliant and the detail Andy goes into just draws you in . I’ve listened to nearly all his books now and every one has me hooked

In a league of his own, but not his best work

It’s not Chris Ryan’s best work, if you aren’t familiar the Danny Black books are the best to start with. Saying that, he’s an incredible author and I loved every minute of this.

Slow starter But bare with it

A slow starter from Chris Ryan, and my first book of his, but once it gets going it grips you
