About this listen

It is 56 BC. As Fronto and his friends’ winter in Rome and Caesar in Illyricum, trouble is brewing in the north. The tribes of Armorica, driven to desperate action by the harsh rule of Crassus, raise their standards in defiance of the Roman eagle, causing a chain reaction that threatens everything the legions of Caesar have achieved.

Meanwhile, in Rome, the conspiracies against Caesar take an unexpected turn, plunging Fronto and his friends into a world of crime, violence and intrigue that threaten everything the legate cares about. In a year that takes the legions and their commanders to the Atlantic Ocean, the treacherous Pyrenees, and the seething underbelly of Rome, everything is about to change for Marcus Falerius Fronto.

Brilliant

Absolutely super if like me you’ve read the first two books then you won’t be disappointed. In fact it’s my favourite so far. The characters now established now interact nicely. Well read too. Heartily recommend 👍

Enjoyable series continues

I only wanted to write a review to say one thing that made me laugh out loud. Twice we hear that a character visits the Palpatine Hill. George Lucas might be glad of the plug but still...

His best so far

I really enjoyed this, a really good balance of Rome politics and front line Legion, and Fronto is now an established character..month Number 4!

Still interesting, but a bit too much violence

I still enjoyed Book 3 l, but felt there was too much violence and make posturing between the characters.
