About this listen
Miles Morales has a lot going on, what with moving to a new neighborhood, dealing with the loss of his father, and the whole gaining superpowers thing. After a misunderstanding with the law, Miles questions what it means to be a hero when people are ready to believe the worst of you. Tempted by the power and freedom of his new abilities, Miles must decide what kind of Spider-Man he wants to be. When Vulture starts wreaking havoc across the city with his new accomplice Starling, Miles can't just sit back and watch. Teamed up with Peter Parker, the two Spider-Men must stop the winged duo before they can unleash experimental tech across the whole city. With lives at risk, can Miles step up and be a hero?

Coming as a massive Miles Morales fan (and Peter Parker fan of 29yrs,) this novel is complete and utter drivel. It's main hook is essentially completely detached from the Insomnia-verse, despite being DIRECT tie-ins, how? The events in this book are never, ever mentioned in the games. Vulture is locked up along with the rest of the Sinister 6 and NYC is facing new difficulties in the fight with the Tinkerers gang by the end of Spider-Man/start of Miles Morales spin off game. in this, Vulture is conveniently cancer free thanks to a wacky new corporation and is now turning people into bird mutants, I shit thee nay. Rio gets turned into a human sized crow, and never speaks of it again. That's what you're reading up to by the way, spoiler alert I guess?
Putting it's source material aside and taking a standalone perspective it's also severely lacking. Miles comes off as still unable to do anything Spider person related and worries about everything, and the thought of having to get Pete involved. The idea of Miles' race being mixed African/Latino American was a great idea for a new spider person, and has had his racial pride explored and challenged in the comics to some good results. But this author uses race as a bait and hook for some of the mose senseless plot "devices" and it's so glaringly painful she's trying to push an agenda and comes across as "higher and mightier than you".
All in all, if you are hell bent to listen to this, just listen to it on YouTube or somewhere that can get it free.
Miles is still the best Spider-Man, I will die on this hill. Fight me.
Horrible narration and race baiting plotline. From a massive Miles Morales fan.
