Summary

The seductive and action-packed follow-up to Alex Aster's instant #1 New York Times, #1 Wall Street Journal, and internationally bestselling novel, Lightlark

Isla Crown has secured the love of two powerful rulers and broken the curses that plagued the six realms for centuries, but few know the true origins of her powers. Now, in the wake of a crushing betrayal, Isla finds herself hungry for distraction, preferring to frequent Lightlark's seductive haunts instead of embracing her duties as the newly crowned leader of two separate realms. Worse, her fellow rulers haven't ceded victory quietly, and there are others in Isla's midst who don't believe her ascent to power was earned. As certain death races toward Lightlark and secrets from the past begin to unravel, Isla must weigh her responsibility to her people against the whims of the most dangerous traitor of all: her heart.

Alex Aster's intricate world expands after the riveting culmination of the Centennial games, delving more deeply into Isla's memories of her past, as her future hurtles toward two possible fates.

a brilliant sequel

a fantastic sequel to the first book, towards the end I was absolutely glued and couldn't stop.
the performance by the narrator was absolutely stellar as with the first book, and genuinely I am now chomping at the bit for the third book for the story to continue!
I need more! 😭

This book is amazing

This book is amazing, every word was enthralling and all the characters are interesting. The narration has definitely added to the experience. The emotionally filled delivery was splendid. Would recommend!

Brilliant narration

I enjoyed Lightlark, but this took time to get into. By the end, though, I was fully invested. I'm looking forward to the next book now, although I'm not sure my heart can take it.

Great sequel

The book was a perfect continuation from the 1st book, and I felt it added to the story and it didn’t feel like it had been pumped out. Surprisingly, I was equally as torn between the 2 love interests as Isla, which is rare for me in romance novels, and made the book much more interesting.

You need to read this

The Lightlark series is unbelievable and it needs more hype, both books are going to be my top reads for this year and I can’t wait till November to read the next instalment

enjoyed but not as much as the 1st

it starts ofd very well and I enjoyed the story. The way the story unfolds make the ending seem obvious. and I found Isla more annoying in this book.
definitely worth a read.

The storytelling and how it always left you wanting to know more.

I loved the story, the characters, the writing. It always left you wanting more. The way each monumental and pivotal point of the story was such a short chapter making you desperate to come back to ‘Before’ and unveiling more.I didn’t want the book to end and really hope there will be more to this story.

It has a lot of potential

I found it moved around a lot, felt like I couldn’t always keep up with the scene changes. Maybe would have been easier to read it in a book format, but found it jumped around a lot and it was obviously defined when it was doing this
