About this listen

Every week, I rise from the dead....

Headshot has just gone live and the whole world's playing the new Artificial Reality blockbuster. Unfortunately, unless you can buy your way onto the Survivor's side, you can only participate as a Zombie. Each week, the forces gather to tear each other down to the bone...until, at week's end, the Apocalypse is reset.

Ryan's played the Beta for months, but now that his favorite game has launched, he finds it consuming his life - even as he struggles to decipher whether or not there's actually a way to succeed if you're not willing to Pay to Win.

But he's got bigger problems to deal with. There's something sinister going on beneath the surface of Headshot, and it looks like he's wrapped up in it whether he likes it or not.

Don't miss the first book in a thrilling post-apocalyptic LitRPG series featuring hordes of undead. It's perfect for fans of Daniel Schinhofen, Tao Wong, and Chris Carney.

Awesome book. Saw this posted on Facebook and though "yeah why not..." had a spare token begging. Glad I did. After recently watching Sword art online I was a bit worried it would be a ripoff. It was not. Great take on VR gaming that is taking root. character was well written and I got a bit creeped out how excited he got about eating people. Sigh of good writing and good voice acting. Got the second book straightaway.

Awesome.

A great story that kept my attention throughout!
I really enjoyable the opposite approach of this story from the zombie player side and jumped straight into book 2 at the end!
Sometimes the game mechanics didn’t seem consistent (shouldn’t he have levelled from close proximity bonus when in the Hummer?) and at times it was a bit too ‘then and us, rich vs poor’, but I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this book to anyone!
Vikas’ narration perfectly suits the characters and pacing of the book!
This is my honest opinion of a free review copy.

Really enjoyable!!

Ever wanted to play a zombie? No, well listen to this book and it will change your mind. I received a review copy of this book and found a much deeper book than I was expecting. A simple story of an RPG in which you play a zombie, somehow manages to provide an entertaining social critique.

Oddly satisfying

Great narration, I liked his voicing of the characters and of the game itself. and then you have the narration which is first person, and therefore is also the voice of the main character.

I don't play many computerised RPGs, but I do sometimes watch other people. I did used to play the dice based games (I'm old).

I got really into this story, and I cared what happened to the player's character. I cared about Ryan too, but not quite as much!

it isn't easy to make what could have been a commentary gripping, but this is. I am eagerly waiting to start listening to book #2, which is already in my library.

Felt like I was there

firstly since I am a gamer I loved this. I understood the references to gaming. also as a gamer I hated the early chapters of world building as I thought it repetitive, I understand why it's there it's to explain to people who may have not been into gaming the whole world they where entering.

secondly repeated times of player this player that has accepted your help or joined horde was also annoying. it could of been cut down.

now to the good parts. the narrator's amazing it is set from one person's own world view with little interaction with others which was hard at first for me to cope with as most books and stories you have lots of characters interact. if you get past the early chapters you will love this.rich Vs poor themes are here and while I don't live in the USA to know the areas I speaks of in gane it felt like I did

different in a good way

How do you manage to make a Zombie Gamelit interesting, quite easy seemingly , all you do is give a first viewpoint from a Zombie trying to survive destruction in his Hometown LA.
The action is pretty good and a lot better than i expected as you are soon caught up in the characters challenges.
The best bit is the overall strategy used and how the Zombie stereotypes are used to evolve different characters.
A throughly enjoyed listen and Vikas does his usual professional job.
I requested this audio and have decided to leave my thoughts.

Excellent LitRPG Zombie Gamelit

This is real society in the form of an a.i. Game and so realistic. It’s a journey and somebody starting at the botoom making to the top on wits and some luck. Packed with action it’s a fast paced ride and i can’t wait to read the second installment. it’s just right if you like gaming and the undead. Not original by any means but then, what is?

White collar versus blue collar

A fantastic book, it really draws you in and I found it hard to stop listening at the end of work and having to wait till the next day. The writing and the narrator really sells the experience and draws you into their world. Can't wait for book 2 :)
