Good story. Good narration albeit with odd american accents for the "monkeys". Didn't struggle to reach the end. Recommended.

Wasn't sure what to expect with this, having been a fan of the original film since I was a kid, but I found it very well written and definitely worth a visit. You may see the ending coming a mile away, and it's hard not to visualise Charlton Heston and Roddy McDowell in their roles but there's enough of a difference to keep it fresh and unexpected.

Well paced. Excellent narration. Such a great story all round that engaged me on many levels. I first read this when I was about 12 and loved it then but I got so much more out of it this time around. Also, rather unexpectedly, I have a greater respect for the Mark Walhberg film. Highly recommended

A truly amazing book, I first read it after seeing the original 1968 film starring Charlton Heston and yes I enjoyed the film the book was far better, fast forward to the 2001 film starring Mark Wahlberg and was hoping for a film more like the book and was not totally disappointed but the book is still superior to the film. La Planète des singes is a truly great read and this audible version is brilliantly narrated by Greg Wise and well worth a listen. Enjoy.

Book of old leaps and bounds over films

Old enough to remember the original film. Wanted to listen to the book to see how it compared. The vast majority is the same only the beginning and end differed. Both have a twist in the tale and both are worth listening to and watching. Should not be disappointed by either.

I know we always bang on about books being better than movies but not in this case. Yes it was written years ago but that's no excuse. Give me Charlton Heston every time!

The narrator chooses to use bizarre American accents too. This is bad enough in music but best avoided in audiobooks.

Historical interest only to shut people up claiming that the book is always the best.
