About this listen
---
Grumpy cowboys and steamy romance . . . Welcome to Chestnut Springs: the big-hitting, small-town series from TikTok sensation Elsie Silver. Perfect for fans of Devney Perry, Lucy Score and B.K. Borison.
Two childhood best friends. Two broken hearts. One impromptu road trip to get away from everything.
I've been living in the friend zone for years now.
To Jasper Gervais's fans, he's just the hockey heartthrob on TV. But to me, he's still the lost boy with sad eyes and a heart of gold. The man I've loved in secret for years.
So when my life falls apart on my wedding day, it only makes sense that he's the one to swoop in and save me. And when his world comes crashing down around him, I'm there to return the favour.
But the more time alone we spend together, the more I start to realise that Jasper isn't looking at me like a friend anymore. And he isn't touching me like one, either.
He acts like he wants me.
But after years of turning me away, he's going to need to prove it . . .

Helt okej
Inte en av mina favoriter även om jag gillar hur den är skriven. Lite seg bitvis känns inte som de kommer framåt eller att det händer så mycket.
Gillar Jasper som karaktär.

Not vibing with the audio
I struggle to really submerge into an audio book when actors put on femm/masc voices. For me personally It distracts me from the story and I can only think about how cringey it sounds.
The book has gender roles for both of the characters for voice over -yet doesn’t utilise that fully throughout the whole book.
When we switch from pov I would have liked the voice actors to still play their part, instead ‘jaspers’ section will voice jasper and then a femm interpretation of Sloane - then vice vera.
The performances were good but this for me just lets the story telling down, when they could have just used jasper for jaspers parts and Sloane for Sloanes.

Cheese fest
Nice easy listen but this series is becoming more cliché and predictable with no punch to the story at all. Ok if you just romantic and chilled

I didn't enjoy this story quite as much as the previous two books. I think, partly, it was because I didn't feel fully satisfied with the Dad's and ex's comeuppance.🤔 As they didn't really get one! Plus, there was also no satisfying closure for him with the family that abandoned him, which just disgusted me about them.😠💔
Sloane and Jasper were a delight.😍 I loved that he 'forgot' to wear his hat. It was so symbolic.♥️ They took their time getting to their hea, but it was so worth it.
The narrators were ok.👍

Fave so far
Each book in the series so far is better than the rest, a really well told story and kept me hooked! A little too much spice towards end
Of the book but except that really enjoyed

finally finally
I was wondering how the 2 of them would finally get together, and this did not disappoint. we get a ton of tension in this slow burn, small town, friends-to-lovers, grumpy-sunshine, sport romance. There is some mild family drama too, but their relationship is the focus here.
Great narration.

Mutual pining🛐
I absolutely adored Sloane and Jasper's story, my favorite one by far. Childhood friends to lovers who have been pining over each other for 18 fricking years! Need I say more?!🫠😌

The characters and their personal growth
the story filled me with joy and a tad bit of sadness the main thing which makes this book so good is the love you gain for the characters and how they grow in this book.
