Pulse

A great start for a new series.

Between Dahlia and Troy there is definitely an attraction for some time.
Yes they work together, yes there is an age gap between them, yes Troy is grumpy and Dahlia sunshine.
But when they are forced to be together in a house with just one bedroom, their chemistry explodes.

It's a great story, h0t and sp!cy with fantastic narration. Looking forward to the next books in this series.

Hot, Steamy and Sweet!

Oh Troy Castelli!

Adriana knows she gives good banter. I lived for their Troy and Dahlia’s back and forth. These two were pure entertainment. They were steamy spice. Adriana added in some emotions to put me in my feels. I love the added layer of suspense that kept my mind racing with theories. I look forward to more in this Landry security series!

Cj Bloom and Connor Brown brought Troy and Dahlia to life fabulously with their narration making this a double treat!

Troy and Dahlia

Pulse is a face paced read with slight suspense and a lot of chemistry.

Troy works at Landry Security and is a by the book guy. The relationship he has with Lincoln and Ford was so much fun to read.

Troy loves getting under the skin of his assistant Dahlia. And Dahlia loves giving it back. They both tell themselves it is just for fun, and they want to keep the line between boss and employee separated.

Things change quickly when Dahlia gets an email with photos of herself from the last few weeks. Right on the cusp of Troy troubling with the choice to go on vacation or back to security detail.

When Dahlia finally lets Troy in on her stalker - Troy, Ford and Lincoln instantly go into protective mode. Troy has finally made his mind up, vacation it is and he’s taking Dahlia with him, while Lincoln and Ford stay behind to find out who is stalking her.
CJ Bloom is a master at her craft, she nails every single character so portrays. This was my first time listening to Connor Brown, I wish there was a little more distinction between characters, there were times I had to rewind and follow in the book due to all of his characters having the same tone/voice.

Great chemistry

This is a spicy age-gap, grumpy-sunshine workplace romance. Dahlia Lovelace, threatened by a stalker, finds herself under the protection of Troy Castelli, her grumpy, gray-eyed bodyguard. Their enforced proximity on a tropical getaway ignites undeniable chemistry, blending suspense, romance, and steamy scenes. Dahlia’s optimism perfectly balances Troy’s brooding demeanor, revealing a deeper connection. The narrators, CJ Bloom and Connor Brown, deliver good performances, capturing the essence of each character beautifully. Bloom's lively portrayal of Dahlia complements Brown's deep, commanding voice for Troy, making the story even more immersive and enjoyable. This audiobook is a captivating start to a promising series.

Great start for a new series in the Landry World.

I've been making my way through Mrs Locke backlist for awhile now, and it was just last week that I've met the Landry family.
I mean... Ford was very much present in the last couple of books that I've read, so I needed their love story too 😂.

This new series is very interconnected with the Landry family, considering that it's their family business.

Troy was a fixture along their series, and I love to finally have his happy ending too.
Troy and Dahlia have a two years work relationship inside Landry securities. She's his personal assistant and he lives for his job. There's a few interactions between them that you can catch some attraction, but it's when her life is in danger, that his alpha protector side comes to play.
Throw in some forced proximity, just one bed and a vacation, and things progressed beautifully!

This book is a fast read with good banter, a little mystery stalker and great characters. Even though I feel like I'm still missing some background.

I hope to see more of their happily ever after in the next books.

Troy & Dahlia

Grumpy sunshine and workplace romance with suspense elements. A quick and easy listen with narration that flowed well. A fast paced story that felt a little rushed at times. Troy and Dahlia had me intrigued with their banter and friendship but unfortunately the story ended up falling flat for me and I struggled to 100% keep invested in the book.

CJ Bloom and Connor Brown did well with the narration and found them both easy to listen to.

Very enjoyable listen

A fun, grumpy sunshine, bodyguard, workplace, forced proximity, 1 bed, shorter-length romance.

Troy and Dahlia have great banter and chemistry together. I enjoyed the stalker part of the storyline. Easy as a standalone. The choices for the narrators were great - voices fit the characters well.

Such a fun listen!

Pulse was such a quick and enjoyable listen. This fast-paced, forced proximity, age gap, grumpy x sunshine, office romance was so much fun! Adriana Locke is one of my favorite authors and her books never disappoint.

I loved how Troy and Dalia came together. It wasn't too fast nor was it too slow. The angst, mystery, suspense and tension made this such an amazing listen. I absolutely loved the banter and chemistry between the characters and that was evident in the audiobook. The narrators were fantastic. I loved how CJ Bloom and Connor Brown brought Troy and Dalia's characters and their dynamic to life.

Great performance!!

Adriana Locke knows how to write a story that you do not want to put down. This was such a well-paced story that kept the plot running but never felt rushed. There was a bit of a mystery in play and was so well done my mind was changing constantly. There was a fair amount of action, both inside and outside of the "one-bed" they had to share. I really appreciated the slightly forbidden aspect in that Troy and Dahlia did work together but the way she managed the possible issue was well executed.

The narration in this book was nothing short of amazing. CJ Bloom is so great with the versatility she shows in each performance. Not only does she own the main character, but she is a master when voicing multiple characters at once. She never fails to impress!  Connor Brown was a wonderful choice for the MMC in this one. He has a great tone to voice a protective hero and he also did a great with the different characters.

A quick, low angst, mostly fluffy, spicy read.

This was my first book by this author and i have mixed feelings.

This was a fast read, with good spice and a suspense sub-plot. It has a wounded MMC, which I love, and an interesing suspense subplot. I liked the banter between Troy and Dahlia, and how he was protective of her. I like that we got so much of Troy’s tragic backstory. It’s a bit dark, so check the trigger warnings. I feel like the story had good bones, but it ultimately fell flat, for me.

First off, this is the first book in the series but it seemed like a lot of the characters feature in previous books, which I haven’t read, so I felt like I walked in in the middle of a conversation. I totally appreciate spin-off series, but it wasn’t made clear anywhere that this was a spin off. For a better reading experience, I would have read the original series first, to get the backstory.

I also felt that the story was rushed. The romance wasn’t properly fleshed out, and neither was the romance subplot. Both felt rushed. There wasn’t much tension or angst in the romance, as I would have expected from a workplace romance.

I think the narrators put in a good performance. CJ Bloom brought out the humour in Dalia’s goofy personality and Connor Brown played the brooding alpha hero quite well.

All that being said, this is a good book if you’re looking for a quick, low angst, mostly fluffy, spicy read.
