About this listen
A major new thriller series featuring Ryan Drake - a British CIA agent on his most dangerous mission yet - for fans of Lee Child, David Baldacci and Vince Flynn.
Ryan Drake is a man who finds people who don't want to be found. Once a British soldier, he now works for the CIA, leading an elite investigation team that tracks down missing agents. But his latest mission - to free a prisoner, code-named Maras, and bring her back onto US soil within 48 hours - is more dangerous than anything his team has attempted before.
Despite the risks, the team successfully completes their mission, but for Drake the real danger has only just begun. Faced with a terrible threat, he is forced to go on the run with Maras. Hunted by his former comrades, Drake is left with no choice but to trust a dangerous woman he barely knows.

Has the hallmarks for a great story
Narration put me off sounded like Arnie in places, which was distracting when there were moments of tension.

Decent story
I thought this was a decent story and a good start to a series, I hope the next one has more of the same, the narrator was dodgy in place's.

Arnold Schwarzenegger from wish.
what can I say, overall I found it decent apart from the awful Arnie impression. seems there's a few books so may be worth listening further.

Distinctly average
I wavered between giving this a 4 or a 3. The writing is good but overlong. The characters are decently fleshed out. The plot makes a reasonable amount of sense. The problem is it just wasn't a very interesting book to read.
The first problem is the female lead who everyone idolises as a bastion of strength and ability. She's Mary-Sue to the max with awesome fighting skills, Sherlock level body language analysis, easy access to money and great fitness despite spending years in a cell with no sunlight nor decent nutrition. Yeah.
Then there is the male-female leads interactions. This had potential but they are both written as such stilted, emotionally suppressed characters that they never really banter. Some of their interactions also feel like typical, inevitable conseqeunces of a male and female lead dynamic rather than anything that would actually happen between the two.
The book is also very long for the depth of its plot. 14 hours could easily have been condensed to 10-11 with a good editor.
Other than that the plot was ok. Normal sort of spy stuff: Deadly missions, exotic foreign lands, crafty skills etc. I wasn't very satisfied by the ending.
The narrator is pretty good though. One of the characters does sound like someone doing an Arnold Schwarzenegger impression but you get used to it.
So I wouldn't really recommend this book but it's not bad either. It's just sort of ok.

All the characters were vivid
First read of Will Jordan. I loved the characters, the storyline and trying to figure out the plot. I will download book 2 and hope it's as riveting.

Well written characters and story
Been a fan of the drinkers you tube channel for a while now. Thought I would give one of his books a chance! Glad I did, awesome book written with great pacing! Enjoyed the story and character development. He also knows how to create a strong female character unlike Hollywood these days.

Good story, but overlong and some clichés
Undercover CIA mob lead by a Brit for a nice change spring a beautiful supposed CIA defector from an impregnable Russian prison then spend the next half of the novel chasing each other around the Middle East. Good characters with one who sounds uncannily like Arnie S, a few twists and turns, some dodgy CIA skullduggery and ending left open for a sequel. Odd relationship between Ryan and his sister that some might think borders on incest (run into each other’s arms shouting I love you) but overall fairly enjoyable time passer with fantastic narration.
