Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend to anyone who had read the previous two books as the backstory of the detective and his problems is not explained at all; it took quite a while before I worked out why he might have a paraplegic living in his house. I enjoyed the premise of the story.

Yes but after the first two by same author

What three words best describe Steven Pacey’s performance?

Odd I could not understand why some of the characters had British regional accents when the book is set in Denmark and Sweden.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No it took a while to get into the story which had several threads not all of which were as gripping as the main story. Some of the characters were beyond unusual Rose/Ursa for example.

yes it was a most wonderful book and the voices and characters were so real I felt that I knew them all

the story was so thrilling it had me saying oh n o over and over I dont think I have read a book that kept me in suspense up until the prelude and even then up until the last word This is the best book by far I have read in a long time

Which character – as performed by Steven Pacey – was your favourite?

assad he managed the voices great but then he managed all the voices as always a fantastic narrator

Another great story in the series. Plenty of twists and turns and fast-paced. Another sleepless night waiting for the denouement at the story finale.

Absolutely love the department Q books, there is nothijg bad you can say about them. Steven Pacey is sublime but after hearing the new narrator on the last 2 books, his contribution to the story becomes even more apparent. A well thought out story line with the perfect amount of seriousness and comedy. Bravo

Thrilling, clever, funny

The Department Q books are not easy because the storylines can be so brutal. Not in terms of violence but deed. Again though, this the third in the series (I think) has a super story brilliantly read by Steven Pacey. He brings out the humour and characters without ever overdoing it. I particularly appreciate the authentic feel of the lead character, he's not always politically correct but his heart really is in the right place. Like all the best detective series I have grown to love Carl, Assad & Rose. They are definitely part of my imaginative world now just as Wallander, Dalgliesh and Marple are.

I usually avoid books with police and detectives because they are often quite boring and unoriginal, however I tried the first book in this series and thoroughly enjoyed it. This is the 3rd and the story was good. The narrator is also very good.

Carl, Assad and Rose come to the rescue again in this clever thriller involving religious cults who keep themselves to themselves. So when a serial pyscho-path with a disturbed past is about, its difficult to track him down as the communities do not want to involve others, especially the police in their plight.

I have enjoyed the department Q books although I have found Steven Pacey's Danish pronunciation a little odd, and his regional English accents even stranger for these Danish characters.

The narrator is the best thing about this audio book. He creates different accents and voices for the characters which, for me, make up for the meandering plot.
