About this listen

A woman is found in a local cemetery, crushed to death under a gravestone. A production company is there, filming the remake of a classic sci-fi TV show on the grounds, making the investigation more difficult for DCI Harry McNeil.

It's his first day in charge of the cold case unit in Edinburgh. After spending four years in Professional Standards, he has little choice but to take the promotion. The Crown Office decides which cold cases should be reviewed, and this time, they've decided the murder of a teenage girl from 20 years ago should be reopened. A girl who was murdered by somebody pushing a gravestone on top of her....

The case gets more complicated when they find out who the latest victim is. Suddenly there are no shortage of suspects. As the filming continues, so does the killing. And McNeil wonders, has a killer been murdering for 20 years? Or is this case completely unconnected? With Frank Miller's help, he's going to find out...the hard way....

Dont waste your credit

I purchased this because I love the narrator, Angus King. I didnt realise it was such a short story until after i bought it.

It could have been a great book, but just as it was building up, it was ending already! All in all, it was pretty naff. I bought be buting book 2.

Angus King was awesome as usual

Not the best

I have to agree with some of the other reviews which made me think twice about buying it. It was very short and unbalanced. The plot was okay but there were an awful lot of characters and there wasn’t enough time to develop them. The ending was quite abrupt as if the author couldn’t be bothered to continue. It’s a shame. The one saving grace was the brilliant narration.

Superficial and unintetesting

The plot had potential but was not developed in a convincing way, it lacked deapth as did the characters.
Too many characters, all sounding the same and I never properly knew who was who.
The tone of the narrator is annoying, had forgotten that I had decided not to buy any more books read by him. Will remember in future.

Hmmmm

There are a few discrepancies in this story but I won’t say what they are so as I don’t spoil the story for other people
Also it’s pronounced bizum not beezom and it’s pronounced cumly bank not commly
You have a nice voice Mr King but you really should check your pronunciation before recording
I’ve listened to lots of books you have narrated and it’s very annoying that you pronounce so many words incorrectly

Flat story, extreme dialect

Very hard to understand! Extreme dialect. Story slow and predictable. Characters flat and uninspired. Scenery OK. The reading could not improve the story.

Disappointed Don’t Buy

Unbridled bullying rudeness handed down by senior police officers. Abrasive contact with public conducted in Scots often garbled dialect Too many players all sounding the same with an unlikely plot.
