About this listen

Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse (aka PG Wodehouse) wrote in excess of 90 books, 40 plays, and 200 short stories between 1902 and 1974 and is widely regarded as one of the greatest humorists of the 20th century. Right Ho, Jeeves! is his second in a series of books written about a luckless young British millionaire named Bertram Wooster and his sharp valet, Jeeves. The comic genius of the book was recognized in a 2009 Internet poll, when it was voted the number one best comic book by an English writer.

Bertram makes his way to Brinkley Court in an effort to save cousin Angela's relationship with Tuppy Glossop, coax a betrothal out of his good friend Gussie Fink-Nottle with Madeline Bassett, and help his dear Aunt Dahlia secure desperately needed funds for her magazine. In what will become typical Wooster style, all his well-laid plans go awry, and the inimitable Jeeves is called upon to save the day.

Such a shame for a great book to be so mistreated. Initially I checked that I had it at the right speed in case that was doing strange things to the narrator’s voice, but no. I assume he was struggling and losing with the accent - an inability to pronounce Worcestershire is a clue - but after 5 minutes I couldn’t listen any more. It was painful. The others might have been splendid, I don’t know, but I could not bear another minute of the narrator.

Appalling narration

The worst narration I have ever encountered in an audible book. I only got as far as hearing Bertie's 'voice' and I knew immediately that I would not enjoy this book. A woman with a lagubrious, and forced accent is never ever going to be a good choice for Bertie Wooster and I say this as a female fan of P G Wodehouse's work. Disappointed doesn't even touch it

Gave up after less than 5 minutes

Sorry I can't listen to this version. The accents are painful and some words are mis-pronounced. Are the actors English? Their delivery is leaden.

A pudding not a souffle^.

What disappointed you about Right Ho, Jeeves!?

The quality of the reading: lifeless, dubious accents, too slow.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Right Ho, Jeeves!?

Wondering whether listening to it at a higher speed would improve things.

Would you be willing to try another one of the narrators’s performances?

No

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Right Ho, Jeeves!?

None - it is a masterpiece.

Classic Wodehouse failed by poor narration

I have never heard such a dreadful attempt at a British English accent. Absolutely terrible.

Load of rubbish
