Absolutely riverting, one gets totally submerged in the story. It gave an insight into life in the 1800’s. Poor in those days meant a devastating life but sometimes life had a way of upsetting the apple cart as with as with Annie but she showed true grit and determination to rise above her humble beginnings.

Absolutely loved this book and will start book 2 later, cannot wait, read so many of Anna Jacob books and not ever been disappointed, she is just fabulous!
