About this listen

Reading Scotland's Jesus should be like being called into the living room by your child shouting that they see a little red dot on the head of a TV newscaster, then riding the white hot bullet through the propaganda circuitry of his or her exploding brain.

It's a funny book about the news, partly because it was decided that a pornographic book about Scottish Independence wouldn't really sell. In chapters ranging from International Politics to the Animal World, ‘Scotland's Jesus’ is allowed the opportunity to showcase his increasingly unsympathetic worldview and disintegrating psyche.

A torrent of jokes about recent events provide the framework for a broader philosophical despair. Frankie Boyle uses the stories of the popular press as a springboard to explain the nature of reality and the details of our enslavement to mirthless corporate Warlocks.

Exactly what you'd expect. Chances are you'll find something in it offensive. But hilarious.

Darkly hilarious

Very well written and very thought provoking but ultimately superbly humorous in frankness that offended me in ways that I couldn’t help laughing at.

Disappointing

Should have been narrated by the author as the book basically comes across as a long stage performance. I have heard Frankie deliver some of this material which makes it even more unusual to hear it from another person.

Not great.

Great Entertainment

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Highly recommended for the open minded.

Frankie Boyle for his intelligent humour and his 'don't let them get you down' attitude.

What about Angus King’s performance did you like?

Very similar sounding to Frankie Boyle.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The introduction.

Any additional comments?

If your on the right of politics you should read it and if your left of centre watch them read it.

This just didn't work

I've read this book before and remember liking it, I've listened to Frankie's first book on audio, and liked it, but the two things together just didn't work this time.

Used to be funny.

Would you try another book written by Frankie Boyle or narrated by Angus King?

Wasted three peoples time, his , the narrator and mine. Preoccupation with masturbation tedious after a very short time.

Would you ever listen to anything by Frankie Boyle again?

No
