About this listen

Random House presents the audiobook edition of Secret Service written by Tom Bradby, read by Juliet Aubrey.

To those who don’t really know her, Kate Henderson’s life must seem perfectly ordinary. But she is in fact a senior MI6 officer, who right now is nursing the political equivalent of a nuclear bomb.

Kate’s most recent mission has yielded the startling intelligence that the British Prime Minister has cancer – and that one of the leading candidates to replace him may be a Russian agent of influence.

Up against the clock to uncover the Russian mole, Kate risks everything to get to the truth. But with her reputation to uphold, her family hanging by a thread and a leadership election looming, she is quickly running out of options, and out of time.

I purchased this after hearing the author talking about it on the radio and being intrigued by the plot that was described. I wasn't disappointed and listened to the whole thing over two days. Great story, and I thought the narrator was excellent.

Superior political thriller

I found the plotlines far too predictable. The narrator's Scottish accent was a complete distraction.

Persevered to the end as enjoyed the storyline, but the narration almost made me give up

Good story terrible narration

If you are heavily critical of books, this may not be for you however if you enjoy a story for what it is… this is well written, well performed and easy to listen to.

Easy listen and enjoyable

It’s a fabulous spy story - MI6 and Russians. And the performance is OK apart from the excruciating Scottish accent for Stuart and the terrible accents of the “establishment” characters. But the story is so good I could put up with the accents.

Gripping thriller - recommend you read it

Narration grated on the nerves with some of the accents : Scottish in particular
Enjoyable enough read

Not brilliant but not bad either

I loved this book and mostly the narration was excellent, certainly different. however the Irish accent for Julie was brutal. Otherwise, a cracking good listen!!

Great story but...
