About this listen
End the struggle, speak up for what you need and experience the freedom of being truly yourself.
Healthy boundaries. We all know we should have them in order to achieve work/life balance, cope with toxic people and enjoy rewarding relationships with partners, friends and family. But what do 'healthy boundaries' really mean - and how can we successfully express our needs, say 'no' and be assertive without offending others?
Licensed counselor, sought-after relationship expert and one of the most influential therapists on Instagram, Nedra Glover Tawwab demystifies this complex topic for today's world. In a relatable and inclusive tone, Set Boundaries, Find Peace presents simple-yet-powerful ways to establish healthy boundaries in all aspects of life. Rooted in the latest research and best practices used in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), these techniques help us identify and express our needs clearly and without apology - and unravel a root problem behind codependency, power struggles, anxiety, depression, burnout and more.

Clear good content
The content is excellent. Very clearly set out in an orderly fashion. However I wish the book had been read by another narrator as the voice and accent of the author is so grating that it spoils the enjoyment of the book. It would be great to have it narrated again by someone with a smooth calming voice

Helped me realised I needed to change
I had to get used to the narrator's accent. But it was easy enough to listen to. The book is clear and concise. Full of examples. There are questions to ask yourself at each end of chapter. It made me realised how much I needed to change the narrative in my life. And how I will benefit from it. I will listen to it again as I work through my own boundary goals.

Bought the audio and paper workbook.
Content has been very helpful.
Wish I’d also bought the paperback or had a different narrator.

What an amazing book!
Nedra Tawwab really nailed this one. This is the kind of book anyone anywhere should be reading. In terms of outtakes, Nedra presents multiple scenarios in which relationships are unhealthy because of the lack of boundaries. From family, romantic relationships, work, friendships, technology & social media, to your own relationship with yourself, how not setting healthy boundaries can affect your daily life, falling into frustration, anger and/or feelings of Inadequacy. The bottom line of her message is that is not selfish to take care of yourself, and that it’s 100% worth it to hold uncomfortable conversations with others to preserve your mental, financial, physical and emotional well being. After all, burnout is the result of unhealthy boundaries. We need to learn to communicate them assertively, but most of all, we need to learn to sustain them by being coherent with ourselves. Setting boundaries help you improve your life, not harm others.

Needed a moment to get used to the Southern accent
Essential content, so happy to have come across this book! Looking back at my life I now see where I failed where I blamed the outside world, and know how not to repeat that in the future.

Excellent guide
This book is very well written, clearly communicated, and full of good real-world examples, and no fluff. The narrator, being the author, is clear and appropriately expressive of the meaning of the words. Because we don’t hear enough black women’s voices, some listeners may be unused to the African-American accent, at first, but it’s worth acknowledging that this reflects a bias in our society that should change. Glover Tawwab draws on her breadth of experience as a therapist and relationship specialist to help us improve our relationships with friends and family by respecting our own needs for healthy boundaries and shows is how to set these boundaries and stick with them for positive change.
