Conner
They thought she was unsuitable as a bride because she was mute.I thought that made her perfect.
Silent. Invisible.
I could pretend she didn’t even exist.
Noemi
I’ve been promised to the Irish.
My father will kill me if I refuse, just like he killed my mother six months ago.
His merciless ambitions stole the light from her eyes and silenced me in the process.
I haven’t spoken a word since her death.
That didn’t stop Conner Reid from choosing me to be his bride.
He threatens my composure and intoxicates my senses.
He represents everything I hate in this world yet summons my darkest cravings.
I can’t escape him.
The worst part is, I’m not sure I want to.
Because my life is in danger, and Conner may be the only man who can save me.
*Silent Vows is the breathtaking first installment in The Byrne Brothers series. It’s a stand-alone mafia arranged marriage romance, complete with a happily ever after and no cliffhangers. A dark romance with adult themes, Silent Vows may not be suitable for sensitive audiences.
A Note from the Author: While Noemi may be a silent virgin bride, don't expect meekness. She is bold, fiercely loyal, and one of the few people unafraid of Conner Byrne. These two are electric, and I ADORE them! For those of you who are new to me, I write what I'd call "mafia lite." My heroes are hardened criminals with soft spots for their heroines. There may be violence and cruelty in my books, but never between the main characters. Enjoy!

Brilliant ❤️🔥❤️
I love the chemistry and the relationship that forms between the two main characters. The story is engaging and will keep you wanting more. The narrators are amazing as always, two of my favourites.
I'm looking forward to listening to book two which is released in April.

A Mafia Dark Romance
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This Narration team did fantastic with narrating this book. I enjoyed both their performances and would listen to this Narration team again.
I really enjoyed Silent Vows as a whole. It was a very good read. Do I recommend? Yes, absolutely.
Spicy and contains TW, so do check those before reading.
Noemi is the daughter of a mafia member and has found herself to be in a delicate situation that if handled improperly can have dire consequences. Connor is in line to become mafia boss (joint) of a separate mafia clan and has agreed to Wed Noemi in an allegiance of the two mafia clans believing she was the best choice due to her mutism.
The story was great. The characters were great and well built. I would have personally liked a bit more world/scene building. I did not notice any plot holes and everything tied up nicely with no loose ends. Except the cliff hanger of course. Book 2, Corrupted Union has a scheduled print release date of April 4, 2023.
As always my Spice Meter is not based upon how well the spice is written, the author did a fantastic job of that. My spice meter is simply a guide to readers of how much/occurrence and how dirty/unconventional the spice is. I would give this book a rating of 3/5. There were multiple scenes and 1 that had am implied situation where 1 of the parties seemed uncomfortable for a short time (not foreful).

A great performance from Kai Kennicott & Wen Ross
A great narration from Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross as they do a fantastic job giving life to Connor and Noemi capturing every nuance of emotion making this a fantastic audio book to listen to on my daily commute. I do have to deduct marks though for Kai’s attempt at an Irish accent when voicing the parts of Connor’s grandparents. It was the only jarring thing in an otherwise great performance.
When we first met Conner Reid at the end of Perfect Enemies I was hoping he’d get his own book and this author did not disappoint me. Silent Vows is the story of an arranged marriage between the Irish mob and the mafia with Conner entering a marriage of convenience with Noemi, daughter of a Capo to strengthen ties between the families. Noemi has been silent for six months since the death of her mother but something about her photograph intrigues Conner and after meeting her, he realises that she’s not the traumatised girl everyone keeps telling him she is. Noemi has secrets and he’s determined to uncover each and every last one of them.
I loved Conner and Noemi together. There was some great chemistry going on there and Conner felt very protective towards Noemi while Noemi instinctively knew she could trust Conner with her secrets despite his reputation for ruthlessness and brutality. With a great background story of murder and betrayal, the Byrne Brothers series is off to a great start.

More Mafia Excellence! An Intriguing New Series!
Jill Ramsower continues to wow me with another amazing novel and start to a new series, “The Byrne Brothers” series and what a start it is. It grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it the entire time, once I started the listening to the audiobook I could not stop, nothing else around me matter except what was going to happen next. Noemi was with her Mother when they were in a horrific a car accident, she not only lost her Mother that day but she lost her voice too and had not spoken since. Her father, Fausto Mancini, a powerful capo in the Moretti family, keeps a close eye on her, not because he loves her, but he suspects she may know something she is not supposed to know. He is a cruel and ruthless man who rules her with an iron fist. With the Albanians trying to make a power play over the Irish mafia , Conner Reid's uncle suggests they make an alliance with the Italians and Connor is to pick a bride from one of the Italian mafia families. He’d do what was best for the family and after reading about the ones who were available for marriage, he chose Noemi, liked how she looked and that she could not talk back to him. They made the arrangements, though it surprised Noemi someone would want her. Her father did not lighten up on her and continued to hold threats over her head, using her brother, knowing how much she loved and cared about him. Conner is a smart man, and he picked up that something was not right in that home, and there was foul air between Noemi and her father. Despite marrying out of obligation and not love, he still cared and would get to the bottom of it all. I loved how everything played out in this book, it is cleverly plotted the story with plenty of drama, angst, action, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions, and a slow burn but worth the wait steamy romance. Besides the family drama, there is drama and turmoil going on in the mafia world and I loved how all the pieces fall together in the end. As always, the world building and character development is phenomenal. Jill Ramsower, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fantastic narration, Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross did a terrific job portraying the characters, humanizing them, and sounding believable in every role they played. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance, having you feel every single one. These talented voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen.

Give me more romantic suspense!
Mafia, arranged marriage, dark romance, romantic suspense, what is there not to love about this book? Jill Ramsower's new series starts off with a bang and I couldn't stop listening! The Albanians are growing stronger and to prevent a manipulation of power, Connor Reid is to marry a woman from the Italian mafia. This will strengthen both the Irish and Italians and keep the Albanians at bay. Noemi is the chosen bride, unable to speak, she will be the perfect wife. She comes from a strong family, a brutal father and a secret she keeps to save herself and her brother. But will this alliance work? So many twists and turns in this one, I love it! Ramsower keeps the action and suspense high, and weaves a beautiful, dark and delicious romance through it all. I was captivated, loved the budding relationship with Noemi and Connor and the deception intriguing! I love all the twisted family secrets! It's a story to think through, cringe at times and fall in love. This is the best kind of listen!
Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross bring this one to life with their amazing connection. These two are able to let us come into the story and feel all the emotions. Noemi is complex. Without a voice, with a voice, she is smart, passionate, scared and dangerous! Ross brings the alpha in with Connor with strength, leadership and sensuality. Both are spot on with the different accents and create a world easy to enjoy.

Wow what a great start to this series loved it from start to finish. Kia Kenicott and Wen Ross were brilliant as Conner and Noemi so much emotion and chemistry between these two. Conner was the alpha male, even when Noemi didn't speak Conner knew that there was a mysterious woman with strength. Can't wait for next book in this series EXCELLANT highly recommend.

Light mafia with high heat
This book is great and sets a lots of background for the rest of the series. Wen Ross was outstanding (the female voice) and perfect for the character but the male voice was not for me. Luckily the majority is her POV so was still doable and the story line is thumbs up!
