About this listen
Veridian lll: A world has been saved, the U.S.S. Enterprise 1701-D lies in ruins, and one of the galaxy's greatest heroes rest beneath a simple cairn of rocks on a lonely hillside. But as a legendary Vulcan ambassador comes at last to the grave of his best and dearest friend, the adventure is only beginning. For the Borg and renegades from the Romulan Empire have joined forces in an unholy alliance against the United Federation of Planets, and their ultimate weapon is none other than James T. Kirk, resurrected by mysterious alien science to destroy the Borg's most formidable enemy: Jean-Luc Picard. From Deep Space Nine to the Borg Homeworld itself, the battle is joined in the ultimate confrontation between the old generation and the new. Old friends are reunited and ancient secrets revealed, as Riker, Spock, Data, and all of the Federation's best and brightest find themselves enmeshed in a cosmic saga that will test their strengths and loyalties to the very limit.

A True Trek Tale, Well Written and Deftly Told
A great and logical combination of several generations of Starfleet crew, with small references to numerous series and films helping create the sense of a larger universe. Little clues scattered throughout the prose help set the tale as happening after Generations and it's a joy to see how different characters from different series interact with one another in a believable manner. Shatner's impressions of established characters are decent, although Bashir's leaves a lot to be desired. Shatner is a great storyteller, telling the tale with a quick pace told with emotion and aplomb, complemented by sound effects and music. Picard’s depiction as a celebrated Starfleet captain undertaking more dangerous missions are much more believable and tense than the character assassination present in Picard. Interesting juxtapositions of Picard’s acceptance of a no-win situation and Kirk’s staunch refusal that such a thing exists alongside connections to previous adventures of both crews lead to a fascinating adventure.

A welcome inclusion of Kirk into Stat Trek
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. It's great to see William Shatner's contribution to the Star Trek mythos. It's a great 3hr
story featuring Kirk, Picard and Spock. it's thrilling to listen to and follow.
What other book might you compare Star Trek: The Return (Adapted) to, and why?
Ashes of Eden although I haven't listened to it at time of writing this review.
What does William Shatner bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
The characters come to life and Shatner brings enthusiasm to the story associated with him playing the part of James T Kirk. The whole story is covered with his passion and dedication to the genre.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes unfortunately I had to listen in two parts as there wasn't time.
Any additional comments?
A great story and well worth the price paid.

Self serving Kirk saga
I can understand why he wrote this because he couldn't let go of his Kirk character. However everything he wrote about how the Borg acted was wrong. And just some of the characters didn't sound convincing. It was a good crack though, but him asking to make his books canon is a right laugh in itself.
Book however was an enjoyable read but let it go Bill.
The only way he's coming back is if Chris Pine has a vision of his future where he's played by Alternate Reality Bill Shatner, that'd be cool.

Mediocre Coninuation
This was an "OK" story, I found it fairly far stretched story to bring back Picard and the narration was fairly mono tone and didn't verbally distinguish the different characters very well.

Great book for trek fans
It was great to hear a new sorry about some much loved characters. The story itself was pretty good. I think fans of the show will like the book. I really liked how it used extra characters in little cameo roles.
