About this listen
These former friends might be faking their engagement, but revealed crushes prove there might not be anything fictional about their arrangement.
In college, I often saw Judd Sylver in the library. He was a cool, broody type of guy who reminded me of a deeply tortured soul who might write poetry. He was very different from the boy I met in third grade on National Make a New Friend Day when I passed him a note, asking if he wanted to be my new friend: Check yes or no. (I’m a bit obsessed with calendar days). He was also vastly different from the young man who stood me up after I asked him to his prom.
Twenty years later, I can let bygones be bygones, especially when he rescues me from a bad date. Then I witness him breaking up with his girlfriend, which resulted in a sticky coffee drink on his chiseled cheeks and ice cubes on his fine-fitting jeans.
I offered him a napkin.Hey, once a friend, always a friend, right? *insert sarcasm*
However, Judd takes us to the next level at my mother’s garden party, where a misunderstanding occurs with a teeny tiny slip of the tongue and a precious ring on my finger.
And suddenly, I’m Judd’s fiancée. Fake or not, things are about to get a little too real with my old friend.

Great story
This one was a sweet romance that's borderline second chance, but not really. You'll have to read it to understand.
These characters pulled me in right away and made me want to know more. The history is so tragic at points, but it makes the story all the better for it. It truly makes you enjoy these two growing together all the more.
I listened to this one on audiobook, and it was so good. I couldn't get enough of how well the narrators' voices matched these two. Highly suggest going that route it you decide to indulge in this one.

Another great romance from L.B. Dunbar
Sterling Fight by L.B. Dunbar is another standalone romance in the Sterling Falls series about the Sylver family. This time, its Judd Sylver, the brother that keeps himself somewhat separated from his family. Judd suffers from a lot of self-doubt, and it infiltrates his relationships with not only his siblings, but his former best friend, Genie, as well.
After years of separation, Judd and Genie find themselves reunited and faking an engagement. Both Judd and Genie have strained relationships with their families, and they support each other just as they did when they were younger. There were some miscommunications that separated them in their youth, and they do a wonderful job of communicating better as adults, and they quickly become each other's confidants and lifelines. Their relationship was so beautifully developed by L.B. Dunbar, and it was so wonderful to read each of them coming to realize that they're worth the time, the effort and the love.
Narration by Erin Mallon and Ryan West was really wonderful. It was a great way to experience this story because they each bring so much emotion to their portrayals. You can detect subtle differences as they both open up to each other and come to love and rely on each other along the way.

Stand alone in series
I listened to the audio version and loved the narration by Ryan West and Erin Mallon. They both did a great job with their performances and brought a lot of emotion to the words.
Sterling Fight is the fifth book in the Sterling Falls series. It can technically be read as a stand alone, however I appreciated the relationships between the family members more after having listened to the other stories. I would call Judd and Genie's story more of a missed opportunity as opposed to a second chance since the characters weren't anything more than friends in the past.
I received a copy of the audiobook at my request, and the opinions here are my own.
