About this listen
Think you've had a bad day at work? Marcus definitely takes the cake.
First, he had a horrible customer during his shift. Then he got fired by his boss. And after that, he got shot to death during a robbery.
To top it all off, he awakened within the body of a weak and strange creature in a fantasy world full of deadly monsters.
And that's just Monday!
Now Marcus will have to find a way to survive as a Vex Queen, but to do so his own bravery and determination are not enough. He needs to build a Hive that will protect him and the monsters are only the first of many threats to come...
Experience the start of a LitRPG-lite adventure with a unique, Real-TimeStrategy twist. Follow Marcus's struggle to survive while also keeping his humanity as he leads a hive-minded race and builds an army in a hostile fantasy world full of goblins, knights, magic and dragons!

with the posible exeption of the worlds common animal ecology every monster type, magical power, charakter, motivation and consikvense is given time in the spotlight.
at least from my first lissen i found not one of even the minor charakters to be underdeveloped for their role. be it a seazy lonney lender, cocky squire, creepy vex-ling or even the unlucky lady from the first chapter that serve as little more than crafting materials for the mc's body.
to that end that leads to this books greatest strength and posible downside: its predigus length. witch is largely derived from its long unhurried slice of life style segments that are very remenisent of Rowlings writing style. veare world building is hintet at and gradualy explored instead of being monologed or sumarised.
i comend this work for its exelent world building most of all. i found no generic charakters at all despite every charakter fitting comftably into their archtypes.
lord of the rings scale with harry potter style

Some parts could be seen as childish but I thought the humour was actually quite realistic for a guy that age. Early 20s is far from the height of male maturity.
Otherwise, it's not a bad story even if I've read better offerings. It dodged a few power-up opportunities and managed to surprise me.
It was a bit drawn out, a lot was said but not that much happened compared to the word count. It's setting up for the next book but the last few hours were a slog to get through.
The narrator's character choices are all rather the same with the main character having the most unique sound. His dictation is laid back but he does really well with conveying the right emotion of the narration and dialogue.
tldr; Solid performance of a decent book.
