About this listen

Suggs is one of pop music's most enduring and likeable figures. Read by the author himself with the assured style and wit of a natural raconteur, this hugely entertaining and insightful autobiography takes you from his colourful early life on a North London council estate, through the heady early days of Punk and 2-Tone, to the eighties, where Madness became the biggest selling singles band of the decade.

Along the way he tells you what it's like to grow up in sixties Soho, go globetrotting with your best mates, to make a dead pigeon fly and cause an earthquake in Finsbury Park.

It's Mad!

A wonderful storyteller and a British icon, it's a great insight into his life, family and upbringing. Narrated by Suggs himself makes it a more personal listen as he tells tales and anecdotes from his childhood and growing up in London and Wales through to being a part of Madness and beyond. Hopefully a second book will be in the making soon.

An interesting and amusing insight to Suggs' life

This book is absolutely hilarious, how Suggs delivers his one liners had me in knots.

As a Madness fan I really enjoyed this book. I suggest also watching their old biography film “Take it or leave it” made decades ago which documented the early rise of the band - all of which is recalled by Suggs in much more lavish detail.

Suggs does a good job of reading his life story along with funny ad-lib moments.

If you’re a fan - take a listen and be prepared to stream the hell out of Madness tunes!

Great listen

I enjoyed this history of Suggs and Madness. It was enthusiastically read by Suggs himself and I found it to be an entertaining listen, which had me laughing on many occasions.
A must for any Suggs or Madness fans.

Great. Nicely written, interesting, fun an well read by Suggs. I like the way he structured it around interesting bits of his life, so each chapter is like a little portrait. It’s not completely chronological and doesn’t cover that much of the band’s gigs and so on, but that works alright for me. I guess that stuff is already covered in the book about Madness, where the other band members can have their say too.

Top autobio by Suggsy

Loved this book from start to finish, brought bad so many memories of listening to madness as a kid and made me laugh with some his stories. Saw his one man show a few years ago and bits of that was also in this so it was even better. This is one I would definitely listen to again and recommend it to everyone who likes madness 😀👍🏻❤️
