Changed my mindset about food completely

Where to start? There are probably too many amazing benefits to reading this book to write in a review but I’ll have a go.

This is the first book that has made me really think about the reasons why I binge-eat. It’s helped me to get to the root cause and address that, rather than just the symptoms of weight gain. Jenny guides you through each chapter with kindness and empathy, providing eye-opening insights and anecdotes to give you a better understanding of yourself, and why you’ve always turned to food as a comfort. She encourages you to look at how you were raised, and what subliminal messages you’ve been exposed to that has led to your unhealthy relationship with food. I have cried five times so far and I’m not quite finished…it’s hard-hitting at times but needed.

I’ve read countless diet books, which tell you which foods to eat and the ones to avoid - none of which have worked long term! This book is nothing like that. It’s not a quick-fix because it gets into the deeper issues, with the important focus being self care and self love - when we nourish our bodies, we are respecting ourselves.

I recommend this book to any woman who’s ever struggled with their food choices, and for any mother who wants their children to have a healthy relationship with food. It’s certainly changing the way I speak about myself, my body & food around my daughters because I don’t want them to have the same issues I have.

I would go as far to say that this book has the potential to change your life for the better, and I’m planning to listen to it a second time once I’ve finished, to make sure the message has really gone in! Being trapped in a binge-eating cycle is like a prison and this book is the key to food freedom.

food freedom is possible

What a unique way to think about the relationship you have with food and yourself. The bit that really stood out for me was how we see ourselves and what our body enables us to do. I.e. my chunky legs enable me to enjoy walks, run, cycle. I need to appreciate what my legs can do for me. Thank you Jenny!
