About this listen

The phone rings. It's your daughter. She's been dead for four months. So begins East Texas police dispatcher Ian Hunt's fight to get his daughter back. The call is cut off by the man who snatched her from her bedroom seven years ago, and a basic description of the kidnapper is all Ian has to go on.

if you like Reacher, you'd like this

The story was ok, although the procedural aspects were completely wrong. The human side was good, but overall it was too long

I love it, was a damned good story

good old justice, must confess I have half an hour left, but I can tell that the ending will be either tragic or fairytale happy ending, either way I was convinced to comment, because I've loved every minute.

Average thriller novel

Fairly standard thriller novel, story goes about as you'd expect it to. Performance middling I found the narrator's cadence somewhat annoying.

Fabulous story

Edge of the seat story, brilliant narration.
Gripping and exciting. A highly recommendable book and a real page turner.

Gripping

Not my favourite story…. Voices were a little annoying. If you’re in to chases and shoot outs then may be your thing just not mine.

Excellent writing

Managed to be gripping while also doing (imo) some really interesting things from a literary perspective. The narration was slow and meandering but it worked for me for a down-beat, slow-burn thriller set in small-town Texas, and increasingly became part of the atmosphere of the book. Quite a lot of violence for my personal comfort but I am a massive baby about that sort of thing. Caught myself muttering ‘Wow, this is really good writing’ a couple of times, which doesn’t often happen.

Enjoyed Listening to This

I had to listen at 1.2 speed but other than that no negatives from me. A good storyline, didn't linger unnecessarily on filler, and enough cliff hanger moments that led me to wanting to get back to listening as soon a I could. Overall a very enjoyable audiobook.
