About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Discover the steps to earning your path to fulfilment and living without regrets-from the world-renowned executive coach and New York Times best-selling author of Triggers and What Got You Here Won't Get You There.

Our lives exist on a continuum between two poles: fulfilment and regret. We invest enormous resources of time and energy into staying healthy, being recognised for our achievements, nurturing our relationships and making money. When we make the right investments, we earn our lives: our choices, risks and efforts lead us a rewarding outcome that we regard as fair and just, regardless of external validation. But how can we know if we're investing in the right things? How can we ensure that our 'earned rewards' add up to an overarching sense of purpose in our lives?

In The Earned Life, pioneering leadership coach Marshall Goldsmith shows us how to live our own lives—not someone else's version of them. The key to living the earned life, unbound by regret, requires our commitment to a habit of earning and connecting it to something greater than the isolated achievements of our personal ambition. Taking inspiration from Buddhism, Goldsmith implores readers to accept impermanence and avoid the Great Western Disease of 'I'll be happy when...'. He offers practical advice for shedding the obstacles, especially our failures of imagination, that prevent us from creating our own lives. With this audiobook as their guide, listeners can close the gap between what they plan to achieve and what they actually get done.

Packed with illuminating exercises and stories from Goldsmith's storied career as a coach to some of the world's most high-achieving leaders, The Earned Life is a powerful roadmap for ambitious people seeking a higher purpose.

Some great concepts, you will gain something from listening to this.

I think this is a useful book but I found certain aspects difficult to engage with. I think some of the concepts discussed for me, need conversation and interactivity which would make sense as he is a life coach who is used to direct feedback from an audience or an individual. Overall I am very grateful for Marshall taking the time to try and help others and I definitely think you will get something from this. I will look out for future works and I feel perhaps reading the book which is more engaging in itself could be more beneficial for myself.

Outstanding

One of the best sell-help books I have engaged with. A lifetime of wisdom, delivered authentically and sincerely. I am re-starting it immediately and making notes. Thank you Mr Goldsmith.

Great Book. Powerful and Authentic. 5 Stars.

Great book. I had numerous epiphanies. Marshall Goldsmith is the real deal with a treasure trove of wisdom to share. The book had a powerful impact on me and the author's narration adds authenticity to the experience. Prepare to be shaken up.

Once finished you will want to start again

Time to sit back listen and reflect on Marshall’s words and perspective on an earned life. This is not a one listen audible and don’t be surprised if the book also ends up in your library. Enjoy.
