Fantastic detail - all so relevant and newsworthy

This is very much a reference work. It summarises key events and arguments and introduces the key feminist thinkers and leaders from the early 17th century all the way to 2018 and does so with little, if anything, in the way of opinion or judgement. While that is an admirable quality, often overlooked within the reference genre, it can make for a rather 'dry' listening experience which is additionally depleted by the need to repeat key passages if you need to make notes to enable further enquires.
As this work encompasses so much, both in terms of timescale and the extraordinary range of sometimes conflicting theories and arguments, it is necessarily shallow in some of its coverage. Several times, as the chapters were concluded, I felt somewhat frustrated, wanting to hear more 'in depth' reviews, analysis, argument and counter argument.
Nevertheless, it was well read by Antonia Beamish whose subtle but unique accents applied while quoting key protagonists, allows the listener to distinguish the individuals concerned.
One negative comment is directed to the production of the audiobook. While edits are unavoidable the ones in this presentation are, to me at least, quite obvious and distracting with the odd phrase being spliced in here and there rather than the re-reading of a passage to reduce impact and improve flow.
Overall though, this is an excellent book, very well researched and read with a vital message that movement must be continued with renewed enthusiasm and verve by the young and not so young generations of women (and men) today and in the future.
