I was looking forward to this book for ages and it did not disappoint. It is fantastic. I love that this series links with the last one.

I enjoyed the storyline, characters and the narration. Looking forward to the next book.

After becoming a fan of Wes Markin I was intrigued to see this new series and he certainly does not fail once again. This book is fast paced and edge of the seat stuff. It's a bit dark and some of the action is upsetting with dogs being injured and worse in fighting rings but despite that its a brilliant read. Can't wait for further titles featuring Jake Pettman. Aubrey Parsons once again excels in his narration which really enhances the quality of the story in my opinion, if a book deserves 10 stars then this is it.

There is a good, albeit brutal story, but the narration didn’t work for me. Our hero, supposedly a big tough English ex detective speaks tough words but the delivery is unconvincing, Jack Reacher he’s not….., he just sounds a bit wet and up himself. All the women sounded the same and needed to give up the smoking habit.
I see others liked the narration , but it stopped me from engaging with the characters . I may read book 2 but I won’t be listening to any more in this series

In a similar vein to the DCI MIke Yorke series from which this is an offshoot, the story follows one of the characters from the Yorke series who is now on the run in America. As with the other novels this is a novel with some extreme violence, evil sociopaths and a well-meaning hero. Action and suspense make it worth a read. Well written and expertly narrated.

One pet peeve of mine is that I do wish when authors add books to sites they wouldn't try to cram a description into the title. The title of this shows as: The Killing Pit The Start of an Adrenaline Pumping New Crime Series for 2021 from the Author of One Last Prayer for the Rays (A Jake Pettman Thriller, Book 1).
A better title would be The Killing Pit (A Jake Pettman Thriller, Book 1) with the rest of the info in the description, not the title.

Gory and violent

This book introduces us to Jake Pettman, who turns out to be quite the interesting character, he's slightly less complicated than the villain of this book however, who is a real monster and confounds Jake throughout the story, the end was really quite bizarre but thoroughly enjoyable.

If you're a Wes Markin fan then you'll probably love this book, if you've never tried a Wes Markin book before then this is as good a place to start as any.

Really really poor story and book actually, so disappointed. I have read all of Wez’s DCI Yorke books love them! But this book, and the exceptionally poor American accent of the narrater ! Not good at all.
