About this listen

THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

____________________

A moving new novel from the beloved author of Tuesdays with Morrie and The Five People You Meet in Heaven

When the Nazis invade Salonika, Greece, eleven-year-old Nico Crispi is offered a chance to save his family. He is instructed to convince his fellow Jewish residents to board trains heading towards the east, where they are promised jobs and safety. He dutifully goes to the station platform every day and reassures the passengers that the journey is safe. Only after it is too late does Nico discover that the people he loved would never return.

In The Little Liar, Nico's story is interweaved with other individuals impacted by the occupation: his brother Sebastian, their schoolmate Fanni and the Nazi officer who radically changed their lives. As the decades pass, the consequences of what they endured come to light.

Exploring honesty, survival, revenge and devotion, The Little Liar is a timeless story about the harm we inflict with our deceits, and the power of love to redeem us.

Engaging

Mitch Albom is my favourite author, both in the context of his writing and also his voice - I could listen to him all day!
I was delighted to see a new book of his on audible but when I saw the description I thought it wasn't for me.
How wrong I was! Because this book was written and read by Mitch I decided to give it a go, and I could not stop listening, I needed to know what happened to the characters,
The story is harrowing, compelling, heartbreaking and uplifting
Whilst Mitch himself says this is not a true story, there are many factual accounts in this book which whilst are incredibly shocking and disturbing they are also necessary. Mitch gives a voice to an important period of history through 4 main characters.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this book and all of his work

An excellent listen

Such a moving story

So moving and true to life. The characters seem real and although, it was an unfortunate story. Somehow, I wished it was all a lie. But it isn’t because it happened. All the characters came to life and paid the price towards the lie. I feel the end was fitting and has given me something to think about. Mitch Albom is an amazing writer and all of the details, always seem to somehow create an extraordinary outcome,

The description of the lie and what was behind it.

I was totally absorbed in this book. The characters came together so interestingly, each with their own back story. Another brilliant book by Mitch Albom.❤

Fantastic!

This book is an honest tragic story of what we can not and should never forget.
I listened to it and came away not only educated on a part of history that I would not have known but also that reminds the reader that nothing good has or even comes from a place of hate

Must read

I loved the accuracy of this story. The heartbreaking reality of the holocaust. The challenges people faced in countries, concentration camps and in the aftermath of the war. The story of four people intertwined for decades. The truth will always set you free, such a lovely, yet sad fact in this story. Another beautiful novel by Albom.

Heart wrenching

As well as being informative this is quite a lovely little book with sliver of hope for redemption & troubled souls. I absolutely loved being in this story.

Truth is the narrator

Mitch could be my favourite author. I love most of his books. Not all. This one is as good to me as Tuesdays with morrie and the first people you meet in heaven. Loved the story. Loved the narration. It made me think. It made me hope.

Amazing
