Stick with it. the narrator really comes into his own with all the voices accents and impressions. I read the reviews and were really pur off but people said stick with it. so I did. well worth a credit.

The narration isn’t that bad really. Yes it’s a bit robotic and initially irritating until you get used to it. But the character voices are very good and make up for it. I’m a huge RC Bray fan but he wouldn’t have been any good for this story. Overall a good original story.

for those who miss RC Bray in the first few minutes of this book (me included), please stick with it, especially if you like a few belly laughs at black humour. this was a great take on the idea initially put forward by Terry Pratchett's 'Mort'. I've no doubt Sir Terry would have adored this story and found it hilarious in places, just as I did. it's not for the faint hearted, but if you like this author, I'm gonna guess you're not faint of heart. Just enjoy the concepts, the laughs, and I'd recommend you check out Mort if you haven't already read it.

Brilliant plot, excellent characterization. Would have been happy for the book to have been twice as long.
The narrator was excellent and totally suited the theme of the story.

I read several negative reviews centred towards the narrator however ignoring these in favour of what appeared to be an interesting story and being willing to accept narration that differed from the great RC Bray, I decided to chance my arm. Pleasingly just a few days (long car journeys) later I’m pleased to report that my fears and perhaps the observations of other critics were unfounded as I found the narrator most capable, most able to have me appreciated different characters and the nuances of their performances. I wit certainty seek out additional work by both the narrator and author. As an aside I might add that I listen at speed x1.25.

So like others have mentioned I didn't think I'd enjoy the narration. The preview doesn't really do it any justice and then the top review being a negative one doesn't help. I've had this book in my wishlist for over a year and always skipped it. Took a chance this time, and I'm just sorry I didn't do it sooner. Brilliant story by Keith C Blackmore, and the narration once you warm up to PJ Ochlan was very good.

seen alot moaning about the narrator, I don't think he's bad but rather really slowly spoken, I tend set speed to 1.2 to get through books faster but set to 1.3 and it makes the world of difference. the start is kinda like a commentary voice and once going then you hear all his different voices for different characters and does a good Job, story's well written and as always Blackmore's sense of humour and banter clicks with my own.

At the start of this i thought no way am I listening to this with very graphic violence but listened a while more..so glad I did ..it was one of the best books ever..brilliant !!!!

ar first, I thought, oh no, the narrator is ruining this, but after a while I got used to this and the character voices are pretty good.
the story itself was a bit monotonous at times, but a good idea. I am glad I stuck with it to the end, although could have been a better ending. not one I will be recommending, other than if you already have it, stick with it.

I listened to this on the recommendation of a friend……I may not listen to his opinion again. Straight in with it….sort of took me by surprise. I think that I was onto my 100th OMG by the time i was a couple of chapters in.

The tale is actually quite a good one, a genuine new take on life, death, pain and luck. I am not sure that all the graphic horror was necessary and was probably brutal to shock, however it does go with the overall theme. I like the way that the characters quirks were all drawn into the story, the character development was superb (a very rare compliment from me). I has a decent amount of what I would class as drunken dark humour.

After the madness of the whole of the book I was quite disappointed at the way it was finished, it sort of felt rushed and ended abruptly, I think more could have been made of the story arcs at the end to have a more satisfying conclusion. However it was definitely worth a credit.
