In 1893, there's no such thing as witches. There used to be, in the wild, dark days before the burnings began, but now witching is nothing but tidy charms and nursery rhymes. If the modern woman wants any measure of power, she must find it at the ballot box.
But when the three Eastwood sisters join the suffragists of New Salem, they begin to pursue the forgotten ways that might turn the women's movement into the witch's movement. Took a while to get into but so worth it.

Refreshing, raw, beautiful story
I'm very picky with audio books. But this one had me hooked in the very first few minutes. I loved the characters, the story and the narrator was amazing!

Witching is returning
Absolutely loved this. Got quiet angry in some places and tearful in others.
in other words I was really invested in the characters.
Was a Beer Girls Bookclub book that I'd probably not have chosen myself.

Brilliantly Written
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this whilst completing chores. I especially loved the interweaving of childhood rhymes as each chapter begins.
I highly recommend this one.

A great story
It took me a little while to get into this, but once it got going I absolutely loved it.
Wonderful story, great narration.
The music was very well done and supportive of the atmosphere too, it's a shame the composer was not credited at the end.
Overall, a great listen and I will be seeking out more work by both the author and the narrator.

Just wonderful story and reading
I have been entranced for the duration of this story, it is rich in world building and character development. Alix has excelled with it and this was a brilliant audiobook

Spell-binding
A stunningly woven story flawlessly narrated.
Threads of real history, fantasy, and thriller weave together seamlessly with elements of romance in this tale of three sisters. The writing is almost lyrical at times and chock full of wisdom, difficult realities, magic and hope. Each character is vividly drawn and expertly brought to life. Every voice is distinct and each accent is believable. I was drawn into the story and left feeling part of it, something I imagine many listeners/readers will feel. It will stay with me a long time, and the ending made me smile and cry at the same time. Some of those tears were joyful. It is not often that a novel does that.
I wouldn't recommend this for those times you're in the mood for a light fantasy. This is for when you want something worthy of getting lost in. If you read it, I hope you enjoy it even half as much as I did.

Absolutely brilliant.
Has to be one of my favourite audible books ever.
The story and narration were perfectly matched and the story was beautiful.
