**THE GRIPPING SECOND NOVEL FROM ROB RINDER AND FOLLOW-UP TO NO. 1 BESTSELLER THE TRIAL**

When the UK's favourite breakfast TV presenter dies live on air in front of millions of viewers, the nation is left devastated.

More devastated still when it becomes clear that her death was not an accident.

The evidence points to one culprit: celebrity chef Sebastian Brooks. But junior barrister Adam Green is about to discover that the case is not as open-and-shut as it first seemed.

And although her angelic persona would suggest otherwise, she was not short of enemies in the glittery TV world . . .

Can Adam uncover the truth?

'Strong storytelling with a murder mystery at its heart makes it one to treasure' Daily Mail

'A pacy and gripping read' The Sun

'An exciting start to what promises to be an excellent series, with an appealing central character' The Guardian

Big let down from the first I preordered this because I really enjoyed first. Give this a miss

The first book in the series was a surprising listen and I thoroughly enjoyed it. So much so I preordered this. However, I found this second instalment to completely lack the same charm. The plot and main case was exceedingly dully, lacking any interesting ‘who dunnit’ aspects. A real shame. Also the recurrent scenes with the mum are infuriating. I like the narrator but just cut all those parts out. Just cringe. Sorry to be so honest.

Superb with lots of twists and possible avenues

Rob Rinder's second book develops the characters from The trial, his first book. I know several people are saying it's similar to the first in structure, but what do people think, it's following barristers in chambers and their work!

The story line quickly develops and almost immediately has you thinking who committed the murder. However, you will change your mind numerous times!! In addition, it brings a whole new slant to 'court room' drama books which makes these addictive.

My only criticism is I can't see a third book on the horizon unless I haven't looked hard enough. If there isn't, Please Rob get writing they are great stories to while a way a day with

Would have been better if Rob Rinder had narrated

Well written and great narration

Set in the same chambers and with mostly the same main characters as the previous book by this author this book was easy to immerse yourself in.
I was sorry when it ended - roll on the next one.

Very enjoyable

Excellent audio. Had me guessing right to the end. Rob Rinder cleverly incorporated the crime and the court room. Narrator did a brilliant job and has an easy voice to listen to.

A good second book

If you liked the first book (as I did) you'll like the second too. The writing and word craft is great as you'd expect from Rob. The ending felt a little rushed though and, although it's not a who-dun it, I think most readers/listeners would probably be trying to prove/disprove the case too but it's not really possible with this book. Just sit back and enjoy the ride!

Preferred previous book

Quite fun if a bit convoluted. I am not a fan of this narrator as he just doesn’t pronounce things properly. Strange choice. Rinder writes well but this book feels rushed.

Great story

The characters develop but the ending was slightly abrupt. Is there another instalment coming soon?
