Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
Rewire your brain, end your pain.
From back pain to migraines, arthritis and sciatica, more than 1.2 billion people worldwide suffer from regular or chronic pain, 28 million in the UK alone. It's a global epidemic that regularly resists treatment and can totally derail people's lives. But it doesn't have to be this way.
This is the revolutionary message from psychotherapist Alan Gordon who, frustrated by the lack of effective treatment for his own debilitating pain, developed a highly successful approach to eliminating symptoms without surgery or medication, offering a viable and drug-free alternative to existing - and often addictive - methods.
Based on the premise that pain starts in the brain not the body, Gordon's Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) enables you to rewire your neural circuits and turn off 'stuck' pain signals. In a ground-breaking study, PRT helped 98 percent of patients reduce their pain levels and 66 percent were completely cured. What's more, these dramatic changes held up over time.
In The Way Out, Gordon provides an easy-to-follow guide to ending your pain with PRT. Drawing on cutting-edge research along with his own experiences as a chronic pain sufferer, he will help you:
- Understand how the brain can unintentionally 'learn' chronic pain.
- Turn off pain signals that have become 'stuck' - these are false alarms.
- Use revolutionary techniques to break the cycle of fear that causes chronic pain.
- Develop long-term strategies for living pain-free.
Game-changing, practical and full of real-life stories from Gordon's clinical practice, this audiobook will change the way you think about pain forever - and give you a way out of your pain today.

THANKS to the author, this book is life changing!
I am finally pain free after 2 years of chronic pain and trying to deal with this through physio and various other techniques. I have read Dr Sarno books and I agree with what's there, but this book provided actual practical cure!Read this book as the techniques are so simple yet effective. This was the final stage for me to finally get better!

I was sceptical but I was hooked by chapter 2!
suffering from chronic lower back pain for 20 years, diagnosed with oesto arthritis and fibromyalgia. I'm looking forward to trying the methods. Thank you author, I like that he talks about his own pain experiences and being realistic about having set backs.

A great overview of mind body syndrome and the path required to overcome chronic symptoms
I found Alan’s book after following some of his exercises o the curable app and his pain reprocessing therapy program on the Tms wiki site. I enjoyed hearing more about his approach and felt the book was well written and relatable. The approach shares some commonalities with other tms programs, but is more streamlined, centring around somatic tracking and messages of safety. Looking forward to applying these ideas on a more regular basis!

Everyone should read this book
The whole of the medical profession need to know the facts about neuroplastic pain. The subject could not be explained better than it is in this book. The world needs to wake up to the new thinking and proof that the evidence Alan Gordon speaks of, is true!

Best credit I've spent in a long time
Having read Sarno's work on mind body syndrome, and also Howard Schubiner's book, this was a great next step to actually put the principles into action through an audio book. I had chronic tailbone pain that had resisted all my usual treatment modalities (acupuncture, osteopathy, trigger point therapy etc). Within two weeks of applying the tools in the book I was 95% pain free. From a place where sitting down was deeply painful to a long haul flight with no pain at all was huge. Can't recommend this enough.

Just amazing
Please listen if you suffer with pain. I’ve learnt so much and this should be part of the basic medical study material. So much useful insight and I’m incredibly grateful for it.

Hope and Knowlege
Having had the worst 9 weeks of my life following a period of stress I’ve been fortunate enough to find this book (via Curable app) before my issues have had a chance to take over. I’m practicing and working through the steps and in just a couple of weeks I feel immeasurably better. I know it’s a journey and I’ll have good days and bad but this book has given me more than just hope - it’s given me knowledge. I’d recommend this book to anyone in pain and on the edge of pain without any hesitation.
