About this listen

A Warhammer Age of Sigmar novel

When a child is born during an apocalyptic storm and marked by the Everchosen himself, the warbands of the Eightpoints race to capture this infant for their own ends. But with the warriors of Sigmar stalking them, battle will ensue in the catacombs of the Bloodwind Spoil.

Listen to it because

Delve beneath the war-torn Eightpoints and experience the adventure, drama and excitement of Warcry: Catacombs in an action-packed novel.

The story

Deep in the tainted lands of the Eightpoints, a child is born during an apocalyptic storm. As omens and prophecies swirl around it, with Archaon himself marking the boy, a brutal hunt begins, each warband striving to claim the child for their own ends. To Burak the Bloodseer and his Untamed Beasts, the child must be found and destroyed before it grows to rival the Everchosen. To Ashrath Silenthis and his Splintered Fang, it is Archaon’s heir and a means of buying his favour. To Lord Rakaros, the fanatical leader of the Scions of the Flame, the child must be given to the fire to prove their dedication to the Three Eyed-King. But as each warband fights for survival across this nightmarish landscape, they are stalked by a hellish and hated enemy: the chosen warriors of Sigmar the Craven. What follows is a brutal struggle that will lead to the very catacombs of the Bloodwind Spoil, where failure means certain death and damnation.

So many key characters. I was always wondering which group would last until the end. Will those I like last long? Will that evil character not just die already? I enjoyed this interplay within each group and how the groups planned around the others.

Always kept us guessing

Gripping performance and the writing was strong for the first two thirds but story and ending was disappointing.

Gripping throughout but disappointing at the end.

I personally enjoyed this story a lot, I was a bit worried by some of the reviews saying nothing happens, but it's not fair, plenty happens and it is a great bit of background especially if you are interested in the slaves to darkness warcry warbands and their background.

enjoyable aos background and fun story

Plenty of brutal violence, but sometimes I got a little lost between who was who.

Not bad

I dont know what the goal of writing and publishing this book was but i dont feel like i know anything more or appriciate the factions depicted any more than i did before.
Its all just petty squabbles, killing people for no reason (even when its your own loss).
The snake bois like snakes and poison? I never would have guessed.
The fire bois like fire and burning people? Sure glad the book told me that.
The beast bois like bonding with beasts and hunting? Truly groundbreaking.
The first half of the book is just everyone walking straight forward while thinking about their shared past and how only they are worthy of…. existing?
Then it peaks with a big battle and… it titters out into a big nothing.
It lacks depth on the factions, it lacks buildup and foreshadowing. Only two or three characters exist per faction and at least two in each are actively trying to usurp eachother while they are in active combat with four other factions.
As if thats the best time to do it.

Well made but flat and pointless
