About this listen
A gripping psychological thriller with a heart-pounding twist
She lied to her daughter to save her family.
Everyone knows Leona would do anything for her daughter Beth: she moved to Church Langdon to send Beth to the best school, worked hard to build a successful business to support them and found them the perfect little cottage to call home. Leona and Beth hike together, shop together, share their hopes and fears with one another. People say they’re more like best friends than mother and daughter.
It’s the relationship every mother dreams of.
But their closeness means that Beth struggles to make friends. Her mother has kept her sheltered from the world. She’s more reliant on her mother’s love. More vulnerable.
When Beth finds an envelope hidden under the floorboards of their home, the contents make her heart stop. Everything she thought she knew about her mother is a lie. And she realises there is no one she can turn to for help.
What if you’ve been protected from strangers your whole life, but the one person you can’t trust is the person closest to home?
What She Saw is a gripping psychological thriller with an incredible twist that will make your jaw drop. If you love The Girl on the Train, Gone Girl, or anything by B. A. Paris you’ll be consumed by this.

Not a bad story, if I'd read it
I nearly gave up on this so many times, due to the awful narration. There was about as much feeling as a robot and, like one of the other reviewers pointed out, over-observance of commas so that there was no flow - it just sounded so stilted with those annoying pauses after "and".
The story itself was good except for the over-abundance of tears throughout. There didn't seem to be a chapter where somebody wasn't sobbing, eyes filling with tears, eyes pricking with tears.

Fantastic book
This was pretty much faultless. The story was amazing and the narration was great. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was the end. I feel like we could have been given another hour or so of the aftermath and how the characters dealt with the events on the fells. I felt it ended rather abruptly and I was a bit disappointed.

Gripping
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It had me gripped from the first couple of chapters and when I wasn't listening to it, I was thinking about what the next plot twist was going to be and looked forward to my next listening opportunity.

enjoyable read but a little too long
I really enjoyed the first Wendy Clarke book I read, (We were sisters) but I felt the pace of that was quicker. The reason I didn't give the book four stars is because- for me- it was a little too long at the beginning. The narrator is one of my favourites and she was - as always excellent.

Mothers love
As I listened to this gripping story I was at the edge constantly. The narrator was marvellous to change from a man to a man and to a teenager was most talented role to carry out. The story is just amazing and mother will do anything for her child. Well done to Wendy Clark.

Great listen!
Really enjoyed it and was even more happy with it when the author didn’t feel the need to add a ridiculous twist at the end! I love it when authors tie up all their loose ends!
