About this listen

From E. E. Holmes, author of the award-winning Gateway Trilogy, comes the first in the highly anticipated companion series The Gateway Trackers.

It's been several years since Jess and Hannah Ballard foiled a cataclysmic prophecy that could have destroyed their fellow Durupinen, an ancient clan of women who allow spirits to cross between the worlds of the living and the dead. The girls swore, after the devastation and chaos they endured, they would never get caught up in the inner workings of the Durupinen again.

They were wrong.

After breaking the code of secrecy and facing the judgement of the High Council, Jess and Hannah have no choice but to become Trackers, working to take down those who would exploit the spirit world for profit or power. Their first assignment takes them into the deep South, where Jeremiah Campbell, a self-proclaimed spiritual guru, lures wealthy and desperate devotees with promises of a deeper connection with the dead. As the girls go undercover, it soon becomes clear that Campbell is not merely the con artist they suspected him to be, and that they, and the spirit world they are sworn to protect, are once again in unimaginable danger.

I loved this as much as the others, although I guessed the identity of the angel early on. It's also easy to pick up if you haven't read the trilogy first (it will make u want to read them).
The narrator isn't great at accents and inter changing character voices, particularly with Finn's voice. she needs some practice with her cockney and Scottish accents too which made me chuckle in parts! they can be hard to master though 😄

Doesnt disappoint

Enjoyable book, it was well read and well written. I liked the story line.

Enjoyable book

I enjoyed the story but the accents of the narrator were bad bordering on offensive. her prepared mispronunciation of Catríona (Cat - reee- nah) made my eye twitch.

good story

That Scottish accent is awful and it tends to drift into an awful Irish accent. It’s cringe worthy and unfortunately it zaps me right out of the story and has a negative impact on the experience.

Is that meant to be Scottish?

I struggled to get into the book as the person reading had the worst accents I've heard. The main character was fine however her supposed Scottish , English a d cockney a cents were terrible. Which is a shame as enjoyed the storyline.

enjoyed the book but narration was poor

One of the worst narrators I have ever heard and I have over 200 audible books. Two stars for completing the narrative.

terrible accents

Both the story and the narration are excellent. The recording is also of an excellent standard. The British accents are as authentic as Dick Van Dyke’s, but that didn’t ruin Mary Poppins, and it doesn’t ruin this either.

There are some lovely moments in this.

Moments of beauty.

Really wanted to read this and the next book but I cannot listen to Savvy and Fiona's and some of the other terrible English accents. Very off putting on what looks to be an interesting story. Asking for a refund as only made it to chapter 8 and I will read the actual books instead! Audible - this keeps happening and I'm starting to feel like its quantity over quality!!!

Gave up listening...
