Summary

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert's there are few.

So begins this most beloved of all American Zen works. In a single stroke, the simple sentence cuts through the pervasive tendency students have of getting so close to Zen as to completely miss what it's all about. In the years since its original publication, Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind has become one of the great modern Zen classics. Suzuki Roshi presents the basics of Zen in a way that is remarkably clear and resonates with the joy of insight.

Read by Emmy-award winning narrator Peter Coyote, this audio will be listened to time and time again as an inspiration to practice.

Excelent book

I believe this book offers a good understanding of what Zen is and it’s practice.

The authors explains in words the big concepts of buddhism in such a way that it makes sense for everyone to understand.

What I mean is the explanation of enlightenment and big mind in modern and no uncertain terms.

If you want a short and clear exposition of zen even if you are a beginner or you had some practice before I highly recommend this book.

This book will not enlighten you....

To become enlightened you must let go of wanting to become enlightened, or wanting anything, if your reason for reading books is to achieve enlightenment then you will not find it, it is not something you find, it is something you already have, you just need to realize it, truly see it.

So, this book will not enlighten you, only you can do that. Enlightenment is beyond words and symbols.

A very good introduction to Zen

I have thoroughly enjoyed the book. It is easy to understand but also full of hidden meanings that will require a second listen and some time to meditate on the topics.

Highly recommended to anyone on any spiritual paths.
