  • Ep. 74 Living with Purpose in a Polarizing World with Randy Pope and Al Erisman
    Nov 26 2024

    Send us a text

Western culture is increasingly polarized, and Christians often feel they are “under siege” by the dominant secular culture. Compounding the problem is that Christians cannot agree among themselves on how to respond to an increasingly “post-Christian " culture. Susan and Alex talk with authors Randy Pope and Al Erisman about how we can engage the culture we live in as disciples of Jesus.

Meet Dwight Owens. Dwight shares his journey from life as an able-bodied young man chasing his dreams to having his world turned upside down by the thoughtless act of a 71-year-old drunk driver. With no visible signs of life, having coded twice, the doctors called his death. But Dwight survived against all odds. Although there were many physical and emotional setbacks, Dwight Owens is alive and well today, embodying what it means to live life with joy and hope.

“After spending almost a full year of my life in the hospital fighting for my life, God brought me back from the brink of death. I was declared a miracle. For that reason, despite my circumstances, I wake up every morning with unbelievable joy with a goal to make each day count for something!” ~Dwight Owens

  • Ep. 69 Andrew Peterson - Community, Calling, and the Mystery of Making
    Oct 22 2024

    Send us a text

Enjoy this conversation with Andrew Peterson, one of Alex and Susan's favorite artists, singer/songwriters, and authors. Do you have a favorite Andrew Peterson song? Send us a text and let us know which one!

    ABOUT ANDREW:
For more than twenty years now, Andrew Peterson has been about the business of quietly changing lives in four-minute increments. In the city of Nashville where music is an industry in the same way fast food, generic greeting cards, and bumper stickers are industries, Peterson has forged his own path, refusing the artistic compromises that so often come with chasing album sales and radio singles and creating instead a long line of songs that ache with sorrow, joy and integrity, and that are part of a real, ongoing, human conversation.

In 2019, Andrew celebrated the 20th anniversary of his Behold the Lamb of God project with an anniversary tour and brand new album recording.

Andrew is also the award-winning author of The Wingfeather Saga, a four-book fantasy adventure series for young people. He is also the Executive Producer of The Wingefeather Saga animated tv series by Angel Studios (The Chosen).

Andrew’s second nonfiction book, The God of the Garden: Thoughts on Creation, Culture, and the Kingdom, released in October of 2021, following his 2019 memoir, Adorning the Dark: Thoughts on Community, Calling, and the Mystery of Making.

In 2008, driven by a desire to cultivate a strong Christian arts community, Andrew founded a ministry called The Rabbit Room, which led to a yearly conference, countless concerts and symposiums, and Rabbit Room Press, which has published over thirty books.

Andrew and his wife, Jamie, have been married for 29 years and have three children, Aedan, Asher, and Skye. In his spare time Andrew keeps bees, builds dry stack stone walls, gardens, draws, and sleeps.

    Oct 15 2024

    Send us a text

Susan, Cliff, and Alex are back! And this time, we're getting practical. Knowing what to do is not enough; we must practice it. We're definitely not perfect when it comes to living out the love and grace that Jesus did, but we don't do it alone. We have the Spirit of God, the grace of God, the power of God, and we have a community of faithful believers we can surround ourselves with on this journey. We can be more like Christ. Let's practice together.
