    The Real Meaning of Christmas

Meta Description: Discover the true essence of Christmas through faith, love, and giving, and learn to embrace its spiritual significance.

Embracing the True Spirit of Christmas

Christmas is a time filled with joy, family gatherings, and festive celebrations. However, amidst the hustle and bustle, it's easy to lose sight of its true meaning. For Christians, Christmas is not just about exchanging gifts or decorating homes. It's about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and understanding the profound significance of His arrival on Earth.

    Understanding the Nativity Story

The nativity story is central to understanding Christmas. Over 2,000 years ago, Jesus was born in a humble stable in Bethlehem. His birth fulfilled ancient prophecies, heralding hope and salvation for humankind. According to the Gospel of Luke, angels announced His birth to shepherds, who then spread the joyful news. This event is more than a historical account; it signifies the beginning of a new era of grace and redemption.

The Message of Love and Hope

At its core, Christmas is a celebration of love. Jesus' birth embodies God's love for the world. In John 3:16, it is written, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son." This act of divine love encourages Christians to spread compassion and kindness. During the Christmas season, sharing this message through acts of love and charity helps to keep Christ’s teachings alive.

    The Act of Giving

Gift-giving during Christmas is often seen as a way to express love and appreciation. However, it's essential to remember that the greatest gift of all is Jesus Himself. This understanding transforms the way Christians think about giving. Beyond physical gifts, giving can take the form of time, support, and a listening ear for those in need. It's about selflessness and generosity, reflecting the self-giving nature of Christ.

    Celebrating with Faith and Tradition

For many Christians, attending church services and partaking in religious traditions are vital aspects of Christmas. These practices serve as reminders of Jesus' teachings and provide an opportunity for communal worship. Caroling, nativity plays, and midnight masses are not just customs; they are expressions of faith, bringing communities together in celebration of the Savior's birth.

    Staying Grounded in Spirituality

While festive activities are enjoyable, it's crucial to remain grounded in spirituality. Christmas invites reflection on one's faith journey and encourages spiritual growth. Christians are called to meditate on scriptures, pray with intention, and seek a deeper connection with God. Such practices ensure that the essence of Christmas transcends beyond a single day.

Conclusion: Rediscover the Joy of Christmas

Rediscovering the joy of Christmas lies in focusing on its spiritual significance. By celebrating Jesus' birth with love, generosity, and faith, Christians can experience the true essence of this sacred holiday. Let the message of hope and redemption inspire you to spread kindness and joy, not only during the festive season but every day.

    Call-to-Action

This Christmas, take a moment to reflect on its true meaning. Engage with your community through acts of service and embrace the spirit of giving. Share the story of Jesus' birth with family and friends to keep the message of love alive. Let’s make this season a reflection of Christ’s unconditional love and grace.

  • Why Celebrate Thanksgiving?
    Nov 24 2024

Sunday November 24th, Episode 34. Why Celebrate Thanksgiving? I’m your host Zane Lawhorn.

As the season of Advent approaches, we stop for a day to return thanks.

Thanksgiving is a time to remember what God has done for us.

We want to discover the significance of Thanksgiving, a cherished tradition for patriotic Christians, celebrating gratitude, faith, and family.

Thanksgiving is a beloved occasion that holds a special place in the hearts of patriotic Christians. This cherished holiday is more than just a day for feasting; it’s a time for expressing gratitude, reflecting on faith, and strengthening family bonds. But why exactly do we celebrate Thanksgiving? Let’s delve into the rich history, spiritual significance, and the traditions that make this holiday so meaningful.

Thanksgiving traces its origins back to 1621 when the Pilgrims celebrated a successful harvest with the Wampanoag tribe. This event laid the foundation for the Thanksgiving we know today, symbolizing cooperation and gratitude. The holiday became officially recognized when President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed it a national holiday in 1863, amid the Civil War, as a way to foster unity and thankfulness.

The Pilgrims, who were devout Christians, left England seeking religious freedom. Their journey to the New World was fraught with challenges, yet their faith remained strong. The first Thanksgiving was not just a celebration of the harvest but also a testament to their resilience and divine providence. For patriotic Christians, Thanksgiving is a powerful reminder of their ancestors' faith and determination.

It is a reminder that God Almighty was present as our country was born.

For Christians, Thanksgiving is a time to appreciate the many blessings bestowed upon them by God. This includes not only material wealth but also spiritual growth and familial love. The holiday encourages believers to reflect on their faith journey and express gratitude for the guidance and support they’ve received.

Many families incorporate prayers and scripture readings into their Thanksgiving traditions. This practice underscores the day’s religious significance and emphasizes the importance of giving thanks in all circumstances, as urged in

1 Thessalonians 5:18: “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.”

If you are not including prayer and praise in your Thanksgiving celebration then make it part of your day’s activities.

Thanksgiving offers a unique opportunity for families to come together, share stories, and create lasting memories. In our fast-paced lives, it's a chance to pause, reconnect with loved ones, and foster a spirit of gratitude. It’s really hard in my opinion to celebrate Thanksgiving without family being together.

Each family has its unique traditions, from classic turkey feasts to volunteering in local communities. New traditions can help reinforce family bonds and ensure Thanksgiving remains a meaningful, cherished holiday for future generations.

Thanksgiving is also a day to appreciate the freedoms and opportunities available in our country. It encourages us to reflect on the nation's history, values, and the sacrifices made by those who have protected our liberties. For patriotic Christians, this holiday is a reminder of the blessings of living in a land where they can freely practice their faith.

  • Jesus IS Coming! Are You Ready? Episode 33 of God's Truth Podcast

The most important SUPER-SIGN that must take place first has already happened. Over 75 years ago, a generation ago the nation of Israel was reborn after 2500 years of silence. Israel must exist for the rest of the events to take place. No one living before 1948 could expect the Messiah's return. It wasn't until that rebirth that we entered the final last days the very last hours leading up to the REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST AS KING OF KINGS.

I wrote about this in my book, "Final Countdown to the Kingdom".

In the book I list a dozen super-signs that must take place leading up to the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Five of those have already occurred and a few more are in the works.

Here is the take-home message for this part of the podcast: This world we live in looks exactly like the world as described in the Bible as the time, the season of His return.

If you are not familiar with these passages in the Bible, I suggest you start with the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 24 and read the whole chapter. It is pretty straight forward as Jesus is asked by His disciples what signs to look for. He answered them, let's start with that.

Instead of saying something like, 'you ain't supposed to know', Jesus went into great detail about the season of His return. The Last Days are not a complete secret and taboo. We are to know. Jesus said say Himself here in Mark 13:37

"What I say to you, I say to everyone; WATCH! “ --Mark 13:37.

So let's explore God's Truth with a brief summary of what our world looks like and how it relates to the Bible. This is not an extensive study, you are encouraged to read God's Word yourself to find all the references to our time. Know this, you are here right now for a purpose. God has SENT YOU HERE TO THIS LITTLE PODCAST FOR A REASON. He has 'called' you to know this much and to ignite the flickering flame of Revival in your heart into a raging fire.

To begin, I will repeat, the nation of Israel exists again. No other nation has died and then been reborn after 2500 years. Think about it, we basically killed off the Cherokee Nation with the Trail of Tears in 1838. So what do you think the chances are of them being reborn as a nation in the year 4,338?

In 70 A.D., Roman soldiers destroyed the Temple and Jerusalem when they put down a Jewish rebellion. The Jewish people were disbursed to various nations ending any legal tie to the Promised Land.

To make matters even worse, they renamed Israel after their mortal enemies the Philistines, calling it Palestine. Not that 'Palestine' came AFTER the nation of Israel owned the Land. Land given to them by God Almighty Himself.

    So Israel was FIRST.

The Palestinians are the squatters on the land and don't deserve one inch of the land. They are occupying the Promised Land of Israel and don't have any real legitimate claim to the land from 'Sea to Sea'.

The Roman Empire tried but failed to erase every trace of Israel and it's people. Only God's chosen people could have been reborn 2500 years later as a nation.

God's Truth knew better, for thousands of years ago, God foretold of the impending exile of His Chosen People. In one passage He promises to call them back from "among the nations" (Ezekiel 39:28). In the Prophet Isaiah's book, God clearly indicates they will return, from "the farthest corners of the earth" (Isaiah 11:12). All directions are included in Psalm 107 verse 3, from "north, south, east and west". God covered every aspect of the planet where a Jewish person might live.
