• Gratitude in the Inner Child Healing Process
    Nov 27 2024

In this episode, Jen and Samantha discuss specific questions you can ask yourself for reflection and healing in the days leading into the Thanksgiving Holiday:

What new traditions or rituals could you create this Thanksgiving to honor your inner child’s desire for joy, safety, and connection? - Embrace activities or practices that foster a sense of peace, gratitude, or creativity, aligning with your healed inner child.

How did my family dynamics shape my understanding of gratitude? - Were expressions of gratitude genuine or forced?

What am I truly thankful for as I reflect on my own healing journey? - How have I grown and healed since my childhood?

Can I forgive myself for the ways I’ve coped in the past? - How can I extend compassion to my inner child for those moments?

  • Help your Inner Child during Thanksgiving
    Nov 20 2024

In this episode, Jen and Samantha discuss several questions you might ask yourself as Thanksgiving approaches to help you identify potential triggers or patterns of behavior that might not be benefiting you. We explore these questions (and laugh a lot along the way!):

    1. Is there a specific memory or pattern from childhood that tends to resurface around this time of year?

o Recognize any recurring themes that might signal a need for inner child healing, like feelings of being overlooked or misunderstood.

    2. How did your family typically express (or avoid expressing) gratitude, love, or affection, and how does that impact you now?

o Consider whether these dynamics have influenced how you show gratitude or affection as an adult.

    3. What boundaries, if any, did you learn from your family of origin, and how do these affect your boundaries today?

o Identify any inherited patterns around boundaries that might affect your well-being during the holidays.

  • Signs you Could Benefit From Inner Child Healing
    Nov 13 2024

In this episode, Jen and I discuss signs that you might benefit from inner child healing and common triggers you might experience during the holiday. Common signs might include:

    ● Recurring Emotional Triggers: Feeling triggered by certain situations, relationships, or conversations might suggest unresolved issues from childhood.

    ● People-Pleasing Tendencies: Constantly putting others' needs above your own or seeking validation from others can point to unresolved childhood wounds around acceptance and approval.

    ● Fear of Abandonment or Rejection: Experiencing intense fear or insecurity around relationships, or needing constant reassurance, might signal attachment issues that stem from childhood experiences.

    ● Repetitive Relationship Patterns: If you find yourself in unhealthy or toxic relationships repeatedly, it could reflect unhealed wounds from early attachments with caregivers or family members.

Holiday traditions or family dynamics that might trigger inner child wounds include:

    ● Family Gatherings: Spending time with family can bring up unresolved emotions, especially if there was conflict or neglect during childhood. Being around parents, siblings, or relatives can reopen old wounds or remind you of unhealed traumas.

    ● Gift-Giving and Expectations: If gift-giving was associated with conditional love or unmet expectations, it can trigger feelings of unworthiness or guilt. Comparing gifts, feeling pressure to spend, or fearing judgment on gift choices can bring up insecurities.

    ● Pressure to Maintain Traditions: Having to follow family traditions or feeling pressured to keep up appearances can trigger feelings of resentment or inadequacy, especially if you felt unheard or undervalued as a child.

    ● Financial Stress: Financial strain around the holidays can bring up memories of scarcity or lack if you experienced financial insecurity as a child, leading to feelings of anxiety or shame.

  • What is inner child healing?
    Nov 7 2024

In this episode, Jen and I discuss healing inner child wounds. Inner child healing is a therapeutic approach that focuses on addressing unresolved emotions, experiences, and traumas from childhood that may be impacting a person’s life as an adult. This form of healing helps individuals connect with the “inner child”—the part of themselves that holds the memories, beliefs, and feelings from early years. By recognizing and nurturing this part, people often uncover root causes of limiting beliefs, patterns, and emotional responses that were formed as coping mechanisms in childhood.Key goals of inner child healing include:Self-Awareness: Identifying childhood events, traumas, or unmet needs that might have shaped current behavior, reactions, and emotional challenges.
Self-Compassion: Learning to nurture and validate the inner child’s emotions rather than dismissing or ignoring them.
Reparenting: Providing the support, understanding, and safety to the inner child that may have been lacking during childhood. This can include setting healthy boundaries and reinforcing self-worth.
Emotional Release: Processing and releasing pent-up emotions tied to past experiences so they no longer have a hold on the individual’s current life.
This type of healing can be explored in therapy or through practices like guided visualization, journaling, meditation, and self-reflection. It's particularly useful for anyone feeling "stuck" or grappling with recurring issues in relationships, self-esteem, or self-care.
