نور عبدالمجيد ليست مجرد كاتبة تروى لنا قصصا لشخصوص لا نعرفها وتثير فضولنا فى مراقبة هؤلاء الشخوص والتلصص على أسرارهم وفقط بل هى كاتبة ترسم أرواحا وتجعلنا نطلق العنان لأروراحنا لتهرب من أجسادنا وتتلاقى فى نقطة ما مع تلك الأرواح التى رسمتها بين سطور رواياتها فنرحل معهم ونحل مكان ما حلوا ونتألم بألمهم وننتصر لهم ونخشى قرب الصفحات الأخيرة ففى النهاية حتما سنفارقهم. تبدأ الرواية بإهداء: "إلى الألم الذي أدبني وأظنه أحسن تأديبي" لتنقل لنا قصّة حياة بطلتها "يُسر الغندور" والتي قست عليها الحياة منذ طفولتها وسلبت منها أمها ثمَّ صفعتها وهي في ريعان شبابها بموت والدها لتتوالى الآلام ورحلات الفقد والخذلان.

البؤس من أعينهم ورغم هذا تتعالى ضحكاتهم وسخريتهم من كل من هم على شاكلة ناجي وزوجته.. أخرج هاتفه من جيبه، وبدأ يصور،كان يكبرالصورالبعيدة ويأخذ لقطات متعددة، وفي إحدى لقطاته رآها ولم يفهم، عاد يكبر الصورة أكثر ويحاول أن ينظر أين هي بالتحديد وسط هذه الجموع.
