Alex and his friend James are attempting to squeeze out the last minutes of summer before their senior year of high school when all of a sudden, everything goes dark. The power to an entire quarter of the US power grid has just gone out and no one knows why. Alex and James think little of the power failure, but they have no idea just how significant it is until they meet an intriguing girl by the name of Baylee. Because of her, what they thought was going to be an ordinary year at school, turns into an adventure they'll never forget. What the duo don't know is that Baylee has a secret past, one that she is forced to face when the dark remnants start to catch up with her. But her past isn't her only concern. Although she doesn't know it at first, she is connected to the power failure. Through her secret past and a series of events too bizarre for Alex and James to even believe, the three friends find themselves facing the truth behind the power struggle, and stranger still, they figure out that they're the only ones who can keep this new power source from killing us all.
