Bruiser—a seasoned guard dog recently rescued from a run-down district warehouse lot—now finds himself locked up at the county pound. After two failed adoptions, all seems lost for Bruiser, and his would-be champion, Robin Kould, is thinking about giving up his dog rescue efforts. But life is like a carnival ride. Things come around full circle, and Bruiser gets his chance to rescue those who rescued him.

Poppy’s doting owner is dead. The person who was supposed to take care of her dumped her in the street on his way out of town. Now she’s behind bars at the local pound. Next stop, euthanasia. The needle. Death. Robin Kould and Mary Yen race against time to find Poppy an owner before it’s too late, but Robin winds up in imminent danger. How can they save Poppy when Robin himself is in need of a rescue?

Bombo is the first in a series about two eighth graders who rescue dogs and sometimes their owners. Robin Kould and Mary Yen become two unlikely comrades as they navigate the turbulent waters of their middle school years. Sometimes insightful, sometimes humorous, but always earnest, these two bungle their way through to accomplish their good deeds.
