About this listen

While a moon hurtles toward certain destruction, taking with it a Weyland-Yutani bioweapons lab, talks on a nearby colony could lead to all-out war among the colonies.

Hygeia, an outer rim colony, is doomed as the moon on which it was built hurtles toward an inevitable collision with the dead planet Hephaestus. When a distress signal arrives from a Weyland-Yutani biowarfare outpost near the colony, a desperate plan is launched to evacuate the trapped scientists and colonists. Their destination: LV-846, a key United Americas colony where high-level talks are scheduled to address the galaxy-wide hostilities between the colonies. Once there, the evacuees, including a contingent of Colonial Marines, discover a plot that could plunge the colonies into all-out war. Their only hope may be an alliance with the deadliest ally imaginable.

I listened to Vasquez earlier this week and it was terrible. This on the other hand was awesome.

Loved it.

the story is quite bland and run of the mill you won't really miss out if you skip it

ehh.. it's ok I geuss

Starts off alright, gets interesting and then flops massively at the end resolution by having the characters do completely irrational and stupid things that shatter any illusion they are real people. Shame

Can’t listen to the end

no the best but certainly not the worst. its got what you need, marines looking for a fight. scientists and a global conglomerate that should know better by now and xenomorphs hell bent on killing. it's even pulled from the new films and references the builders and they're toxic creations. I'm not mad I got this.

Happy enough.

Been listening through all the canon line of Alien novels since Cold Forge, loved so many of them, and I have to say Mary Sangiovanni absolutely takes the cake. Her tone, the way she depicts the Aliens and their behaviour, grounded likeable characters and expanding on the lore in interesting but believable ways. Please can we have more Alien content from her! also massive shoutout for Sheromi Arserio's narration, totally topnotch

Greatest Alien Novel

This was an enjoyable listen with a story that fits well into the Alien Universe. With aspects in the story relating to the Isolation video game and a cast of characters evocative of the Aliens marine cast, this is a classic story that will tick all the boxes of diehard Alien fans.

Do feel the need to give a slightly spoilery word of content warning as children, pregnant women and teenagers are not given plot armour in this story. With that said, this was an engaging fun plot and a nice bit of escapism for Alien fans.

I would have given this five stars if not for one or two decisions the cast makes which might have saved them a lot of tragedy down the line. I do have to agree with a couple other reviews that question the choices the marines make as they approach the final stretch of the story.

Otherwise, overall very enjoyable and sympathetic characters and a satisfying story told by a brilliant narrator.

Highly enjoyable recommend for Alien and Aliens Fans.

I've definitely enjoyed this book out of the recent series the most, it's really got back to the creepy horror that the Aliens exude and the graphic violence that they bring with them, the story brings a new and unexpected twist. I love it!!

Best one yet!

Author did well with what has become a repetitive and frustrating series. Of the last few books this is the best! Interesting twists and turns. Narration was excellent, Shiromi Arserio gets better with each book she narrates. BUT the stupidity of the characters is impossible to ignore. The stupidity of their decisions will leave you shaking your head.

Give the characters more...intelligence.

Good continuation of the Alien saga. Stand alone story in its own right but links to all the problems humankind has made for itself in our quest to dominate humanity and space.
