About this listen
As human colonies are obliterated by the dark pathogen and hideous monstrosities proliferate, a family of scavengers find an amnesiac who may hold the secrets to the forces tearing apart the galaxy.
Life amongst the stars is brutal. Human colonies are being obliterated by a dark pathogen launched from mysterious ships, which turns whole populations into hordes of ravenous monsters. And no one knows what happened to the Jackals, the cadre of soldiers hunting down the perpetrators of these atrocities.
When a family of scavengers recover the amnesiac Mae Hendricks amongst the wreckage of an unidentified ship, they bring a world of pain down on themselves and the civilians of Guelph Station. Mae doesn’t know where she is from or her true nature, nor that she is being hunted by vicious adversaries.
Mae’s past could reveal the conspiracy that is tearing the galaxy apart, but may well unleash a tide of snarling terrors....

Excellent
Brilliant story and an excellent narrator. A gem in the Alien universe. Right up there with Aliens (Alien 2)

An interesting progression on the underlining storyline
It was a great twist to the normal Alien books but too heavily reliant on the synthetic elements. I cannot wait for the next book to come out to see how the bigger picture developes.
I think we need to go back to Dark Horse comic styleas I found them more human.

A bland and robotic story and performance.
Another Aliens novel that doesn't really deliver. This, colony war and inferno's fall all seems to be missing something vital when it comes to the extended alien universe, Yet again the actual main theme - aliens, seems to be a side note with uninteresting characters and themes given centre stage.
Whilst nowhere near as bad as Aliens: Vasquez, I still regret buying this. The performance is extremely robotic a lot of the time and just can't convey emotions or being scenes to life like others can.
If you're looking at this and haven't yet explored the Alien universe as a whole, Phalanx, Cold Forge and Into Charybdis are top tier when it comes to universe building and performance from the narrators.
