About this listen
1970. Baba Lenka begins in an icy Bavarian village with a highly unorthodox funeral. The deceased is Baba Lenka, great-grandmother to Eva Hart. But a terrible thing happens at the funeral, and from that moment on, everything changes for seven-year-old Eva.
The family fly back to Yorkshire but it seems the cold Alpine winds have followed them home and the ghost of Baba Lenka has followed Eva.
This is a story of demonic sorcery and occult practices during the World Wars, the horrors of which are drip-fed into young Eva's mind to devastating effect.
Once again, this is absolutely not for the faint of heart. Nightmares pretty much guaranteed.

Great story!
Really good story. A struggling family head to the funeral of a peculiar old great grandmother of Eva. Learns of the family bloodline that passes down the female line. Wanted by a secret sect of evil. Very good read felt like I was there thru the whole story. I believe the story could go on and on. Such bloodlines do exist thru evil or good. Well worth the read. The audible reader did a great job.

Genuinely creepy, but not entirely plausible
Stories of devil-worship and black magic need a certain amount of willing suspension of disbelief -- at least for me, anyway. The early part of the book certainly worked: it was creepy and disturbing, with plausible characters. As the story went on, though, it started to get to the point that I realized how preposterous the plot was. The ending kind of fizzled out, as if we should be expecting a sequel.

Scary and intense in the most Gothic way!!
Brilliant, scary and creepy beyond measure! The narrator's voice was compelling in a child-like way, great performance ! Great story but my next listen needs to be at least a bit more light-hearted! 😊❤🌺
