About this listen

“We were a thousand miles away from home when the car gave up the ghost....”

When Jack’s car breaks down in the middle of a cross-country road trip, the mysterious house at the top of the hill is a beacon of hope. If he can borrow a phone to call for help, he’ll be on his way in no time. But someone - or something - has other plans. Soon, Jack finds himself trapped in a nightmare that defies logic, where a depraved killer on the loose is the least of his problems. Will Jack escape before it’s too late?

A house full of strangers.

An unsolvable mystery.

A night that won’t end.

Welcome to Bedside Manor.

MrCreepyPasta at his best

The headline says it all. Enjoyable read, and well written by Jack Townsend. Being a Tales from the Gas Station fan, I may be a bit biased here, but good to see the two of them getting a bit more main stream attention.

Excellent fun!

I’ve been really enjoying tales from the gas station, this is mostly just more of the same, albeit brief. It feels the right length though and is the most coherent and self contained of the series so far, you wouldn’t even really need to have read the previous books.

I’ve always found the narrator a little off, he pauses in odd places for just a little too long, I was never sure if that was intentional, like the audio equivalent of a Dutch angle or just inexpert editing which would account for the occasional cough too, but it’s much better in this book, the minor sound effects aren’t too obtrusive and the odd bits of interstitial music does help build some atmosphere.

Overall it’s just a lot of fun.

Great storytelling again, I'm really building a bond with these characters now, and can't wait to listen to the next.

OK short story.

I am loving the "Tales from the Gas Station"-series. This particular story was a bit of an intermission from the previous three books, but still enjoyable, and perhaps a presentation of things to come?

Ambient sound effects and music is used more widely in this book. I'm not sure if that is my cup of beer, but you can't fault people for trying something new.
